As I will always say, everyone's situation is different.

My only advise would be to buy a copy of lax flower or redline or similar and phone all the companies in the back....the insurance ones, not the premium rate ones  They specialise in young driver/sports/high risk

Try elephant they're pretty good, I'm 23 with 0 year no claims as my previous car wasn't insured in my name. I paid £600 which is really good considering my age and the type of car it is.

What type of MR2 do you have?

I'm with elephant at the moment with my starlet turbo but they can't quote an existing customer until its renewal time!

I drive a 97 gt t-bar n/a and insured it valued at £8,000. one accident in

2003 and no points. 23 yrs old at the time and 0 yrs no claims.

I tried everywhere and elephant was the cheapest i found by about

£250.

However, my premium was £1150 by c/card. I was well happy with that til

i saw the geezer on here who got it for £600. dont know how he got it so

cheap cos my accident only put it up 10%. But things like where you keep

it over night, yearly mileage and purpose of use can change it quite a bit.

Be carefull also how honest you are. e.g. if you have a garage but the olds

park in it, it may be worth saying you do. but if it gets nicked and wasnt

in there at night, you may have an argument with the insurers, and they

may not pay out!

Insurance comes down to many factors, ie cost of claims in the month, you track record, mods

I was stunned to find out I am being hit in every direction. I live in the highest class area for claims. They work on a scale of 1-7 and my postcode falls into atagory 1. I don't have a driveway and my rented garage has my other car in it so I park on the road and to top it all, I changed from working in Pensions to Media. I then found out if you mention media to insurance companies they class it as a high risk occupation due to the social nature to the sales side and being down the pub a lot, they think you will jump in your car after a few pints. Fine, but I work in the accounts department and the only time I get to socialise with my boring colleagues is at the xmas party but I get penalised on the insurance. :crybaby:

Elephant seem to be the best. Iam insured through them and I pay £960 and i'm 21. But thats the cheapest a driver my age will ever get considering I'm in Noprthern Ireland  . High risk of my car blowing up and all that!!

I've got a standard UK Rev 2 MR2 GT, it's not a turbo and no mods at the moment. I should also say that it's £600 for 10 months as I took the 10 month bonus accellerator to get my no claims built up.

The car is parked in the street aswell. Egg seemed pretty decent too they quoted me £900 ish.

The one i'm looking at is a turbo, so gonna be higher then that, elephant will insure me but gotta wait till my renewal is up till they will quote!

I was on the 10 month accellerater but i changed as some companies won't accept it as it isn't a yr.
