Previa Seat Removal

Hi! Im intending to buy a previa soon to use for transporting windsurf boards and mountain bikes (inside the vehicle!). Im confused as to which models have removable seats. I have about £10,000 to spend so i'd like to get a new shape one, but I think only the top spec ones have seats that come out/ fold out of the way? Do the seats come out of all the earlier shape ones? I'd like to keep maybe one or two in the back for transporting friends now and then..

is it worth paying the extra for the newer models? I like the idea of the extra safety features but maybe I should save some money and buy a 98/99 model?

Any help or advice would be great!

Cheers

jon

just for future reference I have finally managed to discover that on new shape previas, you can only take the seats out when they have 7 individual seats, so either a cdx or a 7 seat GLS. Which means you cant get a manual petrol 7 seater which is what I was looking for! (no wonder they were hard to find!)

have now given up on the manual bit and am picking up my X reg CDX on Thursday ! Whoohooo!

I've got a 7 seat new shape CDX (auto - groan). You can fold / remove all the rear seats but not the front passenger seat, so I hope your boards will fit in the back. If this is a problem, you can fit most things between the front seats.

The seats are initially difficult to remove but you'll develop the knack for it. Always start by removing the head restraint and sliding forwards the seat in front.

I've got round the auto box by driving it like a manual, ie I invariably select the gear required (2, D - overdrive, D + overdrive). It does help particularly prior to overtaking since you can select the appropriate gear before it is required rather than getting the gap, flooring the throttle and waiting for the gearbox to notice......

Enjoy your new car!
