Whats Gone Wrong

I put my car on the rollers yesterday, just for a power run.

And I'm not very impressed with the results :(

To explain myself let me show you the first ever RR'd I did on this car, it was totally standard at the time.

As you can see, thats pretty good going for a standard engine.

So I was very chuffed to say the least. :)

But Yesterday I get these results.

(sorry for crap quality, scanner aint working)

Peak Power:- 253.6 BHP @ 5362 Rpm

54c103cf.jpg

Peak Torque:- 276.3 lb/ft @ 4472 Rpm

559876bb.jpg

I cant complain about the curves there spot on B)

But the power is down from standard

Now i've been having a good old moan to Fizz (sorry about that  )

and he's adiment that the rollers are out.

And to be fair the Rollers are 80's technology compared to pro sports up-to-date top-of-the-range jobbies.

But to be that much out somethings got to be wrong somewhere.

Now i've put it down to one thing really.

After putting on the De-cat, lightened Flywheel, Uprated Clutch, FCD and Uprated Actuator, I've not bothered to remap the S-AFCII as i'm getting a Power FC (soon  )

Do you reckon that could lose me some power?

Anyway's tell me what you think peeps as I aint impressed. :(

could be rollers

there was a simalar debate on the ford rs owners club regarding 1/4 mile timing gear used at crail raceways which always gave "generous " times compared to other timing gear in the uk.

i say take it back to pro sport for another power run before you start questioning your engine

guestimate flywheel figures

one place may have said 20% coast down another 15% that will be the difference you see, cars probabley putting out the same power as before :D

p.s. I have heard some garages say 15% power loss by drive trane others as high as 30% only way to really judge things is always use the same rollers and get power at wheels or hubs if its thor.

You need to know you're running on a fully calibrated dyno.

If you want to do comparisons after fitting mods, you should at least take it back to the same place. Did you???

On a rolling road, so much can affect the results. As much as they can try, they'll never be able to fully simulate the conditions you experience on the road.

If for any reason the garage was warmer the second time down you stand to lose power... and so on and so forth.

Does it feel any slower??? More or less torquey???

you have more torque than your earlier dyno tho

True, But I'm down on torque too. (on the same rollers as friday)

Peak Torque 280.1 lb/ft @ 4767 Rpm

Peak Power 265.5 Bhp @ 5144 Rpm

Thats was before the de-cat etc..

And even The Owner thought his was rollers where out that time.

Easier said than done.

The only reason I would ever go to Pro Sports is for a Power Run and there over an Hour drive.

But Mikeanics is pretty local, and he's really good at tunning cars, so I take it to him for Rolling Road Tunes.

Ahhh... shame.

Does it feel more or less powerful/torquey though?

its gotta be the rollers mate, if you've done all them extra bits to your car it cant get rid of the power...

Just wait till you get your power fc on then go back to prosport..
