Idle Problem

well the Cynos doesn't feel very well at the moment...

its idling very rough, bouncing from 500RPM up to 1000.

also it keeps stalling coming up to junctions etc

its had a class B service last june/july which saw new alternator/all belts inc Cam belt/ oil change etc..

can anyone suggest what could be the problem?

perhaps clogged fuel lines or poorly insulated sparking?

the poor idle sounds more like poor timing to me though....but thats just an extreme scenario...

You could be loosing air somewhere, That would almost definatly be the answer if you did a turbo conversion ? may still be the case now though

not a turbo, i would say checkthe throttle cable, then if that's fine, try running a fuel injector cleaner through the system. if all that fails, it's probably something to do with your timing if not ignition.

Various things

1. Check vacuum hoses for leaks.

2. Check rotor arm contacts

3. Check distributor cap contacts and carbon brush in middle on inside (should be springy)

4. Check spark plugs

If spark plug leads are old, maybe time to change them.

hi mate, i had the same problem, it was ideling between 500rpm-1000rpm, i then had the car inspected by a toyota specialist who said that i had the wrong map sensor. it could be that your map sensor is not working meaning it can read the data of the ecu, hope this helps :)
