Thanks for everyones replies in the diesel vs petrol carina thread.

i sold my hilux surf and have found a Carina Estate GLI 2.0 (march97) its been looked after by a motor trade owner so will have been serviced well, plus it's used overseas and has been in hangars for long periods of time over last 5 years. my dad owned a lpg landcruiser (V8) for a short time and told me of the mpg benefits.

having driven a 2.4 td manual hilux for the last year, and as i drive a VITO at work all day, i've gone for an Auto. i was impressed by a L reg corolla GXi 1.8 i had owned before, and would have bought another one but i need the room, so it was a estate that was needed. What else but a Carina!

does anyone knows the engine type in Carina GLi 2.0 auto 97?

also is there a Type code, i have chassis number.

never owned auto before, any issues?

Yes, Coyote is right. It is 3S-FE.

I also use 3S-FE, it is a pretty good engine.
