Oil Change!

Hello all,

I know it will be obvious when I get a clear look but where is the sump plug? Will i get decent enough access to it with axle stands on the rear or do I really need to borrow my mates ramp? (the latter option will be a hassle as he needs it all day every day usually!) -By the way its for a 1991 MK2 Rev 1 N/A. Thanks in advance! :)

Its easy to get to from under the car, a jack should be ideal for access to it.

As you look from the back of the car, its on the right hand side of the engine.

oil filter is just next to the dipstick

Have a look here:

First oil change I did I jacked the rear of the car up.

Now I don't bother, I just drive up a couple of patio slabs in my garage, just a few inches gives you enough space.

And yes, you can drain the oil with the rear up in the air.

The only disadvantage to putting the rear of the car up on ramps (or a makeshift one like mine) is that you can't really check the oil level when you refill - but it's not much of a problem as I put in 'roughly' 3.75 litres then I drive off my makeshift ramp then leave to stand for a bit then check the level again :)
