right theres two versions

windows messenger - the old pants original

MSN messenger - the pants not so original one

now when i start up they BOTH boot, im not too fussed on the MSN one getting going but it gets on my threpney bits that the other one does to (windows)

ive tried on remove progs... not there

ive tried uninstal windows components... in which i selected windows messenger and sent it on its merry way. it shows the program having taken no drive space... but it still gets going

just tried MSconfig to try and nobble it on start up but i cant see it in there anywhere

elp! before the PC goes through a brick wall

you sure its not in msconfig? the new messenger is called msnmsgr.exe. The old one that comes with windows is msmgs.exe.

You can just go into Windows Messenger settings and tick the box that says "Load on start" or something like that and it just wont load up when you boot up....

Click Start

Select Run

Type 'cmd'

Right click and Paste this code in the black window:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

hit ‘Return’

Windows Messenger will be gone.

MSN Messenger you can shift in Add/Remove programmes.

If you are running XP the easy way to rid your comp of unwanted microsoft spyware etc (incl windows messenger) is xp anti-spy, download it from the official site
