Im thinking about changing the yaris later in the year for a new car and although

i havent made up my mind what i want yet.

Ive always fanced a supra but dont really know much about them so i'm just after some info

1.Not sure if id go 3.0n/a or TT

(cant seem to find much info on the n/a performance wise)

2.I know most of the differences between a uk and jap spec cars but is a uk spec car really worth the extra money and hassle of finding one

3.I read somewhere that although on paper the jap spec tt is 280bhp when dyno'd

they normaly put out about 300bhp is this true or just aload of

4.What does it take to get a jap TT upto the uk version's 320 odd bhp

Excuse the daft question but i know why the jap TT only come with 280bhp but i take it they use exactly the same engine are they just mapped differently

(please someone inlighten me)

Also ive read on here that import supra tt's cost 2/3x as much to insure yet

when i do a quote on admiral i get the following prices

uk spec supra TT fully comp £536

jap spec supra TT fully comp £827

Thanks

Gary

I am also looking into the possibility of buying a mark 4!

I think some insurance companies are starting to charge the same for jap and uk cars but i am not aware of which ones!I would also like to know!!

I believe all N/A supras are imported so you are less likely to find info on them!

Performance wise i think the N/A is around 220bhp and insurance group 17!

Correct me if im wrong!!Which i probably am!

If you dont mind me asking how old are you and with what ncb?

Get the TT, have you decided on which transmission you want as that seems to be quite a discussion point!

CB

Go Turbo, insurance and running costs are almost identical.

Yes, UK Spec cars are really worth the extra money.

This is true, they say they are 280bhp on paper but in reality they are more like 300bhp.

Different ECU, different turbos, different exhaust system, different injectors, different cams....... and yes thats just the engine. would cost mega bucks to get an import to uk spec.

Also ive read on here that import supra tt's cost 2/3x as much to insure yet

uk spec supra TT fully comp £536

jap spec supra TT fully comp £827

Cheers leeky

Just been reading some more and have noticed that some people are saying jap spec TT's are easier to mod

I don't know about the jspecs being easier to mod. Don't forget that the UK spec comes with LSD, diff oil cooler and bigger injectors as standard. Also with steel blades on the turbos, you can get boost upto 1.5, compared to 1.2.

Not saying that the UK spec are easier to mod, but to get serious performance, you certainly need to look at the whole package and consider it for yourself.

The UK spec is a lardy car, with all the gadgets and the jspec turbos spool quicker and without the gadgets it is a lighter car. Depends therfore on what you want the car for?
