Hi,I have a 1990 20 gt 16v uk 3sge and when I bridge E1 and TE1 to check for codes ,I just get a continuous flash from the check engine light, is this normal?

afaik that means you are clear of codes...

wait I'll flick thru the maintenance manual.....

yeah if its just blinking off and on repeatedly then its normal, disconenct Battery for 1 minute or so and the light should reset.

its only a worry if there are pauses inbetween the blinks.

Hi,I have got the home tune man coming in an hour ,as my car has failed its mot on emissions!

Do these cars normally have a problem going through the test on emissions?

Must admit it does run rich and smells rich all the time but mainly on idle as it drives ok.

Not normally a problem. I would suspect the lambda sensor. :(
