ok ok ok ... let me start at the end (yeah.. end)

at the end of the exhaust, we got the tip

this is a tip right:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...7983197095&rd=1

its cosmetical only, with no power gain nor different sound what so ever and sometimes it can even look stupid right?

next we got the ..what?

i mean.. is this next?>

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...7984904846&rd=1

when i say fujitsubo exhaust, do we mean the whole thing? from the engine to the tip?

and also.. what is a muffler?

i mean something like that:

Take this as an un-educated reply until you get it all confirmed!

From engine

Manifold/Header - The four pipes into one part!

Downpipe - pipe connecting manifold to cat

Cat/catalyzer/catalytic converter - The restricting part of the pipe containing a catalyst (platinum?) to connect oxygens to CO to complete its combustion to form the less harmful/non poissoness CO2

Cat back system - runs from the cat to the back box (included)

Silencer - i believe this is fitted between the cat and the back box to help reduce noise

Back box (eg fujitsubo) - the bit on the end of the pipe that is visible

Tip - the bit sticking out of back box

I hope this helps/is right

i think so! i think silencer/muffler/backbox all mean the same its just they probably get incorectly used a bit! i keep seing a second box between cat and backbox which i think is another silencer! If you are talking bout that muffler on eBay i would assume it is just the backbox!

That seems right, they're all the same, there is a silencer between the cat and backbox, which helps reduce the sound aswell. I asked about having the middle silencer removed when I had my cat back exhaust, but I was told it would make the exhaust sound tinny, and you can tell which cars have the middle silencers removed.

Youv'e got it right and most do look stupid

that exhaust goes from the manifold rather than the cat, right the way to the back box

Here's a diagram, hope it helps (sorry it's a bit messy it's just a quick one)
