1/4 Mile Times

Personally I don't care how fast my car goes down a race track cos I don't race, just enjoy my driving day to day.

I know I have a good, reliable and nippy car (Celica GT) and I am curious to how fast it goes. Well the Police once told me I had 131mph out of it just before they gave me a ticket that led to a 2 week ban. Was !Removed! surprised myself and since then I have just enjoyed my motoring and only dreamed of tearing round race circuits.

I'm sure everyone on this Forum has their own reasons for doing whatever they do to their cars, and that is totally COOL. It's great to cherish and make the most out of your car.

But lets not get into Maxpower style name calling and instead all get along swapping stories and experiences and advice and many other things and overall help make this one heck of a great site. The place to come, the place to be seen.

Happy driving (fast or slower) everyone.:thumbsup:

 All i say is good luck, sorry dude with that horse power i can't see you honestly getting 15secs quarter.

Also i'd like to see you up against my car. Getting my NOS fitted in 3 weeks. how does 450bhp suit you?

But seriously with less than 100hp you must have a 0-60 of about 10secs? You can't be accelerating very fast at all, especially because of how much those cars used to weigh back in the 70's.

Or have i misunderstood what you have said regarding your car? :(

Nice car though mate. Classic celica's are golden.

how fast do u think my car will go in the 1/4 mile drag? id'e really like 2 know.

Not half as quick as Soct's '73 Cleica once the rebuild is done and it's pushing near 200Bhp.....

As far as Celica's go I think the older shape are sexier and have the more badboy menacing look....

Josh, where's the photo's of the beast ?

Thats a big statment. If its not a euro spec car, u gotta have those big ugly U.S spec rubber bumpers?

What engine are u running? is it a TA23 or RA23.... no offense but the 22's are much better looking, more sleak and defined in my opinon. Would like to know about the bonet scoop though? what carbs are u running? did u locate the scoop to the right side of the bonet to get max effect, with out the stock air box, or is it just for show?

Im just into a 2TG/3T hybrid build. Read the specs and weep :D :D :D

only joking :P

sorry just read that bit. i take it ur only running a 18R engine, if it was a 2T-B it would have had two solex's so its a 18R right? How well does the air dam fit? was thinking about a toysport one........

Wind up?

not if you've seen scots car present, rebuild in process and the bit's and bob's lying around I wouldn't be surprised at all in a couple of years time if that was the case although maybe only a single turbo...

What figures don't you believe ?

So whats the 0-60 and top end on these classic celicas?

well, not much now adays as standard. In 1973 my celica was 110 - 120bhp (this number changes where u look ) and the ford RS2000 was putting out around 105bhp and mexico a bit less.

That is 2TG 1600cc = 115 - 120

18RG 2000cc = 145bhp

Those are the early twin cam motors (pretty advanced in their day)

the OHV where around 100bhp.

As for the top speed? Dun no... mine went of the speedo at 120, but was kinda running out of steam, pulled ok up to 100 - ask ryan, we played about a bit, but he was infront most the time when dragging.

U gotta keep this stuff in perspective though.... 8 valves, 30 year old design, N/A etc.

With the what i had before im guessing it was around the 130bhp - 140bhp at the f/w mark, unsure. Im now hoping for 160 - 200bhp at the f/w. Not bad for a 1600cc n/a (though to be fair it will end up as just a spit under 2000cc)

Martin brundel's early days of touring car racing was in one of these cars!!!!!

the year of my celica is a 1977

it's a gt fastback!!!

it has a 20r engine

the racing carburator is a 2-barrel instead of a single stock

2x's the air intake :)

it did 125 stock with 98 hp!!!

now it has about 125!!!

i think it will get better than a 15 sec in the1/4 milewith all the stuff i will be putting on it!!

circle track racing engine (200)hp!

then, side draft carburation (30)hp

change the head (15-20)hp

nos (75-100)hp

turbo (50)hp

total about 400hp!!!
