Roof Bars For Carina E?

Hi,

I'm buying myself a racing rowing boat (8m long, about as wide as my backside, weighs about 14kg), and need to pick it up from 200 miles away. My club has specialist racks that attach to roof bars, but my Carina doesn't seem to have the removable covers which many other cars have, which would be where the roof bars bolt on.

Can anyone advise/recommend any particular roof bars, and how do you go about fitting them to a Carina E? Is it a 5 minute job, or is it a pain in the backside? Also, how much would I be looking at paying for them?

PAddy hopkirk do some decent cheap ones. Cost about £25. Easy to fit and will do the job. Thule are working out at £100.
