Hello all ,

Just a quick question on changing stereo in my 98

Corolla gs lift back. Bought the car and someone had changed stereo to non standard cd unit.

What I want to know is will there be any problem with immobiliser and alarm if Battery needs disconnecting to fit new

stereo.?

On the subject of stereo , there seems to be a problem where as, when the unit is turned on at the button, whenever I turn the ignition over ,or use the power windows there seems to be a strange buzzing or humming noise coming from some where .As soon as I take my finger off the button the noise stops.

The problem doesn’t seem to occur when the stereo is switched off at the power switch though !!!!.

Problem only surfaced on Saturday ,anybody got any ideas as to cause ?

Cheers Albi.

The buzzing/humming noise could be a coil n the cable, or bad grounding point, or poor wiring.

Have you checked the wiring at all, just to make sure that it was wired in ok?
