from what I have been told... I believe the rev3 has better engine management and also has an LSD... whereas the rev2 tubby does not...

i dont get this talk on lifting off and the back end comming round... in a rwd car you get lift off understeer as opposed to lift off oversteer in a fwd car. but as for the front feeling light i have felt the front being pushed on by the back. perhaps someone can clarify this.

£3k should get you a nice rev 2 turbo.. check the sticky threads at the top of the MR2 section.. and there is all the info you will need to know..

Hi im also looking at the gen 111 turbo.Could someone tell me how realiable these cars are?? I know japanese tend to be very well built but how realiable are the turbos?? how long do they last?? When do they need changing??etc:!

Also im going to be buying froma japanese import specialist and ive notcied that all there cars tend to have very low mileage. IE:the one i like is the gen 111 turbo which is a 1993 with only 63k miles. Is that normal??

Cheers

Big help if all questions could eb answered. ;)

Tut Tut Rico and Rob for not spotting this one..

The Gen 3 only started in 1994.. so that 1993 has to be a Rev 2 mate.. be sure to check...:thumbsup:

Mine's a 1993 plate as well and it's a rev 3 ;)

It's all about weight transfer, if your on the edge while cornering fast and you lift off the gas where will all that weight in the back go?? foward...and as your in the middle of a corner it will soon swap ends with the front ;)

The MR2 will corner faster under acceleration, and the car will exit the corner already acclerating, so a good thing is to try to maintain throttle while cornering. This may mean you enter the corner slower. The rookie mistake is to enter the corner too fast. You now have to brake(braking while turning is a recipe for a spin) or coast (not as much grip) and try to get back on your line.

It has a lot to do with weight transfer. Throttle causes weight to shift to the rear. Braking causes weight to shift to the front.

That makes sense. The same thing happens in a FWD Rolla GTI in the wet (haven't managed to get the back end out in the dry regardless of speed).

I do like the idea of proper drifting in a RWD though. With the throttle on!!
