Can Anyone Get More Than 32mpg?

I know how to get over 32MPG, get a Diesel D4D, I get over 40 MPG, on a regular basis, and taht is not taking it easy!. B)

I get 45mpg out of my 1.8 VVT-I Avensis! You can get RAV's now with the 1.8 engine...........if economy is what you are after.

When my wife had her 1998 RAV, she was getting 80 miles from £15 of fuel............25-26 mpg!! :ffs: That's why I got rid. Mostly stop/start driving though. I would have been happy with 30 mpg.

I get over 32MPG all the time and I drive a 2L petrol RAV 4. But then I'm on A roads back and forward to work out of rush hour mostly so I get to travel a good 50/55MPH. It makes a big difference. Only time I don't get good milage is when I drive it like a GTI :P

I'd never get a 2L car to do start/stop driving. My wife has a 1.4L Clio for that and only fills up every two weeks :)

Unless it's been re-introduced, the 1.8L is no longer available in the RAV4, they stopped doing it with the current face lift when they dropped the two wheel drive.

Our Rav4 2.0NV 5 door ( "Born" Aug 1st 2003 ) has actually averaged 31.8mpg :) over the last 78300 miles, the trip computer is stuck at 31.6!

As I use it mainly for work, most of the mileage is dual carriageway.

I am a great believer in its' how you drive 'em! That needn't mean snail mode either! Heavy braking and over, as well as under revving the engine are big causes of poor economy. not just lead in the right boot.

My better half (bless her) always achieves terrible mpg figures, regardless of the motor she drives and yet isn't a particularly swift pilot. She is a demon for braking late and always being in a gear too high for any given speed. I can generally achieve 15 to 20 mpg better figures with the same vehicle and driven faster. Keeping the revs in the power band and using the gears more than the brakes and accelerator (military taught to drive!!) does wonders for the mpg, clutch and tyre wear!!
