Air-con (?) Problem

Hi there, n00b here.

I've got a 1990 Celica GT-R (import from Japan, obviously).

Whilst driving to work today, all of a sudden some vapour came in the cockpit - only seemed to be from the centre console vents - but didn't smell hot or bad etc - I think it's freeon?

Changing the air-con circulation to 'Recirc' stopped the entry of said vapour, and I've checked the level of water in the radiator and it's fine (plus no indication that the engine was overheating on the gauges).

Is this a known fault, or am I assuming it's air-con incorrectly?

If the air con was blowing a lot colder than the outside it could just have been moisture in the air and nothing to worry about....
