Help Needed

Hello All,

Just been to the east coast for my hols , anyway Thursday night it absolutely banged it down for around 2 hrs , thunder, lightning , the works.

On Friday morning I opened up the back of my 98 lift-back and lo and behold , there was the ominous sound of water sloshing around in the tail gate. The 2 drain holes in the bottom lip don’t appear to be blocked .

Has any one experienced a similar problem.

Cheers Albi.

Has the gromet come out from where the wire for the heated rear window goes in at the top (also wire for where rear wash wipe lead goes in).

Get a thin piece of plastic to poke drain holes clear (may not look blocked but as you 'probe' you may find they are).

Rusting rear tailgates can be a problem with Toyotas (although never had problem myself) so do what I do ... when its all dried out (and a good dry week has been forecast) buy some waxoil and inject it through the drain holes (then clear drainholes again) this will help ward of corrosion.

Thanks for the info g.t.i. .

Had a look at the points you mention but nothing seems amiss . I've had the panel off that hides all the rear wiper motor and the rest of all the gubbins and cannot see anything unusual this also hides the 2 contacts for the demister at the bottom of the screen . The water now seems to be seeping out through the exterior window rubber when the tailgate is fully raised !!!!! and is still sloshing around merrily..
