A Little Help?!

Hello, im a new member! i just bought my first rav-4 and i love it!

Its a 1995 gx and needs a little work. It has really great paintwork even though its 10 years old. The interior has a lot of scratches in the plastic needs replacing but i have no idea where to purchase these panals. eBay hasnt much for a rav4 of this age especially. Does anyone know of anywhere?

Also does anyone know if the dashboard can be updated with newer model parts? if so what makes?

Any help would soo appreciated!!

Thanx!

Hello mate, it's good to see another mk1 Rav4 owner! I too am not a lover of the dashboard on these. Even in their day I think they were a little dated.

On the other hand it's nice a simply laid out and everything falls to hand well. I would say the scrap yards are the best bet for interior part. There are yards that specialise in Japanese cars, so you may be lucky with these. A quick search on the net may pull up a few.

Anything else you wanna know, just ask. Theres always someone with an answer on here!

Hi, and welcome!

I'm not sure how good they are or how much it costs, but there are a number of firms that specialize in "smart" repairs, I found a local one as I am looking to have a key scratch down the side of my rav fixed without having to go for a complete respray. But I did notice that the smart repair companies also do dashboard and interior trim repairs. This may be of some help to you?

try looking up smart repair or Car Medic on thompson local for your area.

This is one of the companies I found : http://www.carmedic.ltd.uk/

I suppose the appeal of the wood dash depends on your age generally.

I also saw a carbon fibre look dash cover as well on eBay not so long back. But forgot to bid on it!

Actually, looking at that picture - the wood effect doesn't look too bad really. However, I think there may be a little too much of it. Like the bit that runs the full length of the passenger dash below the air bag. As it's stick on, I suppose you can put as much or a little as you want on though! :)

Looks really nice - would definately be interested in a kit for the 2002 version.

In the world of wood style dash kits, the cheap ones are plastic with a glue backing (£60-100 ), the one's that are £200-300 are real wood. The one i had was the plastic type, but it looked ok

'Wood' wouldnt have been my first choice, but i came accross a kit cheap for my Rav4, and i have to say it does brighten the whole thing up a little. I really wanted a carbon kit but not many of them come up for sale on 'Ebay', but for anyone interested at the moment there are dash kits on eBay for all the Ravs, old style and new style.

Hope my ramblings were of some use...

Must admit, the wood does make it look a bit more luxurious.

It's growing on me.

There's a carbon fibre kit on eBay at the moment.

Don't bid on it though, cause I am!! :D
