Hey everyone... :help:

I have a Toyota Carina which i must say i dont see much support for nowadays  , Anyway i have what looks like a Factory Fitted Alarm System of some sorts, Its a Siren under the bonnet with a keyhole access point on the back of it, I have the key but it doesnt do anything, Maybe i need a Key Fob, Inside the vehicle i have 2 Sensors 1 either side of the dash, The drivers side sensor has an LED on it...

Does this alarm ring any bells with anyone, I would be most greatful if someone can shed some light on this, I have searched the internet to no avail. :bookworm:

When i went to the Toyota dealer They said the following:

IF you need a keyfob it will cost you around £60+ 1/2 labour to program it, BUT we will need to book it in to check the make of the alarm 1 hrs labour £75 and even then it may not need a fob inwhich case im shelly out unessessary cash... :o

So for the sake for around £100 for 1 1/2 hrs labour and a new fob £60 i may aswell buy a thatcham approved alarm for around £100 lol

So please help if you can, If i had hair i would pull it all out... lol

Kind Regards

Leon

Sounds like the Toyota T5000 alarm made by scorpion

The key only turns the siren off and with it being a CAT 1 system to order a new remote involves replacing a alarm ecu and two remotes hence the price

Hi There where two different alarms on the Carina, the TVSS (Toyota Vehicle Security System) I suspect this is the one the dealer has quoted you for, or the Scorpian, this is the alarm I think you have on your car. Scorpian have now gone bust and the remotes can only be purchased with the Alarm ECU, These are very rare, they sometimes come up on e-bay but be carefull not to buy anothe duff one. New ecu and two remotes used to be about £260 i think when they where available.

Sorry its not good news.
