Tsport Oil

Hi Everyone,

My CTS is going in for its first service soon, and my local Mr T don't do a fully synthetic oil for the car , but they said I could supply my own.

I have phoned several Toyota servicing departments and asked which oil to use, and they all offer me different advice:

- 0W30 Castrol Forumla SLX (but the bottle mentions specific car brands, and not Toyota),

- 0W40 (seems easy enough to get ahold of),

- 10W40 (doesn't seem to exist in fully synthetic, except at a few specialist places).

So, which would be best for the car?

Cheers all!

Rich.

Rich, the T Pot will run on water if you give it chance! I use Castrol formula R 10w60 a bit pricey but you only need to change it once every 30,000 miles!

Thanks for the replies guys B)

I think I'll get the Mobil1 0W40, its on special at Halfrauds at the moment (20% off the 4L bottle), I better get 2 as I doubt 4L will be enough, especially as the car sips oil slighly.

Cheers,

Rich.

I know, Mobil are b***ers they sell in 4L (and not 5L Like everyone else) so that you have to buy 2 (spend more!) cans. But then you only need to buy one can next time ...keeps you buying Mobil one though ...crafty Bu**ers!

The oil you mention is brilliant, but I would never let an engine run for 30,000 mile with out an oil change  !
