Hi,

I have an Avensis 2001 hatchback and need to replace the front discs. I have replaced brake pads front / rear many times, but not done discs. Is this a fairly straight-forward process? If so, could someone talk me through what I need todo?

Much appreciated,

Hiten

Hi, if you have replaced the front pads before, you're halfway there already. Just suspend the caliper by twine tied to the shock absorber or somewhere. Then simply unbolt the pad carrier from the hub (always a bit tight) and just pull off the disc. Usually they come off easily, if a bit of corrosion is seizing it on tap it with a rubber mallet, but I find just gentle wiggling does it. Make sure the hub and disc mating surfaces are immaculately clean, copper grease the hub surface then just slide on the new disc, attach the pad carrier, attach pad to piston and slide the outside one in and you know the rest. Plenty of copper grease and bingo. Very straightforward indeed, you should walk it.
