:help: guys, I was wondering if Gas Saving Gadgets are Worthless or not. I came across this ad called FuelMax and it says it's a

recognised principle of MAGNETIC RESONANCE

I'm hoping this gadget will really work because most gadgets out there are really fake right?

here are the links where I researched a bit about this product:

Yeah, i'm quite enthiusiastic about this. I've never actually heard about it, but keeping pipes clear and clean is very beneficial to a car, so the principal definintely isn't too far off the mark. Personally, i find that just giving the engine a good blitz every now and then will do the job well, but will obviously wear the engine a bit. Maybe you could try combining both a good max-out on a straight road and some of this fuelmax stuff. You never know.

I've just ordered one through eBay, so will report when the results are in!

You may think me a sucker, but £12.99 isn't going to break the bank!

sorry for the late reply, yeah I'm doing light foot and using gears wisely, straight alignment and rightly flated tires. however, gas prices are becoming heavier everyday.

that's why I'm becoming a sucker for these stuff. :)

I'm looking forward for your reports sjapplet.

Petrol is not affected by magnets seeing as it isn't metallic in any way!

well - first 400 miles, no difference. second 400 miles, no difference.

it's going in the bin!

everyone talks about the engine running smoother etc. i have noticed no difference whatsoever. that'll teach me!

Of course they are useless. The car companies are will do anything they can to get the lowest fuel consumption and emmissions; Toyota for example are [trying to] change their whole image to an environmentally friendly one. That's why the Supra was dropped and MR2 and Celica are to be dumped soon. And company buyers in particular are very keen to minimise their tax therefore want the best CO2 rating they can for a particular type of vehicle.

So if any of these devices worked then they would be fitted to new cars.

If that logic doesn't work for you then read this article on fuel savers.

I have just had pleasing results by havinga four-wheel alignment done on my Carina E 1.6 Auto.

Before - 35.6 mpg average

After - 37.7 mpg average

An increase of 6%!

Dunno about gadgets, but check out my post on adding acetone to the tank (in Toyota Performance on the Forum).

I run a D-4D and I am currently over the moon with the blatant gains to power/torque from adding a few pennies worth of pure acetone o the tank.

It should work with petrol just as well, but the various websites touting acetone state not to use petrol with any added ethanol (alcohol). Some petrol brands have it, some don't, but it takes away any power/economy gain from acetone.

Since you already bought the 'magnetizer' and doesnt work, don't throw it away. From this link, I think there is other thing you could use it on the car. the link
