Are Chipsaway Highly Rated By You All?

How many of you have used chips away and were you happy with what they did?

My dad has done this to the previa a couple of weeks back and I really want it fixed. Mainly because i feel bad when i drive it - people might think it was me!

I've used t-cut to removed the black scuff marks that were left behind.

How much do you thing this would cost to repair? The paint has gone a bit flakey where you see rust at the botton.

They couldn't do my last car as the paint was too thin! On the other hand, a number of people here have said nice things about them. They assess each job after seeing it and will come out and give you a free quotation if you ring them.

i dont think they'd be able to do it with it being right on the edge of a panel. looks like a bodyshop job

I have used these with my slk merc. The neighbour had some work done on his house and the idiot managed to drop a pair of ladders on the rear quater :censor: causing a nasty gash.

These guys managed to fix the dent and match the paint perfectly. You would never know work has been done on it. They will soon be doing some work on my cts as I have some chips and marks that need sorting.

I trust these guys (well the ones in benfleet) 100% with my cars!!

I think they operate a franchise scheme? So it really is pot luck if your local one is any good or not. If they can get to the back of the panel that is dented (i.e. not double skinned) they may well be able to make it look better, but it won't be perfect without proper bodyshop attention.

lol was just about to say the same Mike - I've heard its franchise too, cause some people are happy with the work done, but I've heard stories of people who arent....

Same with most companies though I suppose....

I was very happy with my local ChipsAway guy.... and he would probably be able to make that look pretty much new again at a glance... but it would never be perfect unless it went to a body shop...

What he would probably do is fill the little dents and build them up then spray the colour on over the top..

I had a small dent in my rear wheel arch... and he did wonderful work with it:

But yeah... they are franchises... and so pot luck if you get a goodun... best to mebbe ask around in your area.. see if anyone can recommend one? Or perhaps try and use one who is used by a dealer :)

My local guy is Martin Rust but i cant say for sure that he any good.

Ah Benfleet, that's handy to know. They seem like a reputable company but it's good to hear of local recommendations ;)

I used my local one (Wellingborough) for both chips and a bad door dent/crease - I was sure the door would need a new skin - but they sorted it out in a morning...

My lot did a quote and guaranteed they wouldnt charge if they didnt get the dent out .. cost 120 I think ... but that was a lot of bonnet chips too

The experirence that we have had with these was very good. We won't let just anyone do work on our SLK as its our pride and joy alongside the TSport, which incidently is going to them in the next couple of weeks for some tidying up.

They are very good and Tony, one of the owners will not take on a job he can't do - very honnest (such a rarity for that trade)! BTW you also get at least 12 months warenty on any work done.

Yes it's 5 minutes from Sadlers Farm Roundabout on the A13 going towards Hadleigh.

Just a quick update.

Got my CTS back from these guys today, and as expected they done a great job with the key scuffs and scrapes on the door and wheel that had a few scrapes all from the previous owner. At the time of buying I got Toyota to fix the door as part of the purchse deal/price, but the idiots done a really crap job. The paint started to flake after 3 weeks and this is Mr T's paint specialists!

Well it all looks like new again and all for a reasonable price too. Btw. this also has a 2 year warrenty - so any probs and its all covered for the next couple of years!!

I have no worries about recomending the Benfleet guys even if they are a franchise.
