The late '70's Corolla is a rare beast now, unless anyone know's of any?

I have been searching for one in the UK for sometime without success. Parts are tricky to get, particularly most body panels which appear unobtainable.

If someone has a complete car or bodyshell then I'll be interested to hear.

Did I hear a deadly hush? :(

When you say late 70's Coupe do you mean this:

corollasr.jpg

If so then the body panel situation is in excelent suppliy with regards to Front wings, sills, wheel arch, bumpers and bonnet...they are still available from any bodypanel supplier.

Go to these guys website

http://www.carpanels.co.uk/index_catalogues.htm

Look up part number, then local stockest and then it's of to local stockest with part number/print out

e.g

85-05-230.gif

Make: TOYOTA

Model: COROLLA

Variant: KE70 79-08/82

HCP Part Number: 85-05-230

OE Equivalent: 53801A110

European No: 817031-2

Description: FRONT WING SALOON R/H

(Front wings are about £37 each to give you an idea of price range)

This is what else is available:

TOYOTA COROLLA (KE70 79-08/82)

Hadrian No.

85-05-008 FULL SILL 4 DOOR R/H

85-05-009 FULL SILL 4 DOOR L/H

85-05-100 FRONT BUMPER CENTRE CHROME

85-05-112 FRONT CORNER BUMPER R/H

85-05-113 FRONT CORNER BUMPER L/H

85-05-140 REAR CENTRE BUMPER CHROME

85-05-152 REAR CORNER BUMPER R/H

85-05-153 REAR CORNER BUMPER L/H

85-05-190 GRILLE BLACK PLASTIC

85-05-201 LOWER FRONT PANEL SALOON/EST

85-05-230 FRONT WING SALOON R/H

85-05-231 FRONT WING SALOON L/H

85-05-260 BONNET

85-05-506 REAR WHEEL ARCH 2 DOOR R/H

85-05-507 REAR WHEEL ARCH 2 DOOR L/H

85-05-508 REAR WHEEL ARCH 4 DOOR R/H

85-05-509 REAR WHEEL ARCH 4 DOOR L/H

Wheel arch repair sections are about £15 right up to about £100 for a bonnet.

Reason why suppliy of panels is good (by old Jap car standards) is because KE70 remained as an Estate car through most of 80's (Late as 1988 I think in some countries) long after saloon ceased in 1982/83.

AND FOR PETROL TANK

Try these guys

Hello all.

I´m from Portugal and a prowd owner of a 76 Ke35SR.

I´m starting a general rebuild on it and i´ll need some items that simply don´t exist in here, such as door/windshield seals.

Can you point me some dealers in UK, where i can find such items and others?

Best regards. Cravo.

Hi,

I am new here. I just make my 1st post.

I also just bought a 1984 TA60 celica Liftback. I don't know which car to keep.

KE35 is in perfect condition, a bit rust-work needs.

TA60 want to be MA61, but needs a lot of work. It has no rust.

What should you choose?

Rare Spares in Oz can supply brand windscreen seals. Bought one not long ago for my rally car. Definitely not available from this side of the globe unless you stumble across some old stock.

Suggest you keep both the KE35's. With a shortage of body panels for older Toyota's that's only half the headache. Have just cut the rear quarter panels off one KE35 to replace those on another one. I believe they are the only 2 in the UK and the one being rebuilt I imported from New Zealand.

Are new rear quarter panels available in Greece? The only place I know new panels are available is in the Philippines.

Thanks for your fast answer....

Did you see my photos? you like my work?

Tell me, tell me, if something look bad tell me to fix it.

Anyway, i have 3 KE35SR, 2 with plates, one red for parts.

I was very lucky cause the donor car is complete, and had one front complete Chassis with top mount, original, toyota part, black colored which i got also.

This part price was more than 1000 E in our local TOYOTA spare parts distributor in greece.

I am happy i have that part.

complete unrusted rear quarter part is nowhere around.

Sorry

That's a TE71 circa 1979/83 I had one exactly the same as your pic.

The KE35 Corolla Coupe had a 1166cc 2KB pushrod engine and that was the only engine option in the UK. The TE37 Levin had a 1588cc 2TG 8 valve twin cam the same as the Celica GT circa 1975 which was the TA22? Old photo attached of my TE37 Levin. When it's completed I'll post some new photo's.

The TE37 I imported from New Zealand had a 4A-GE engine but it's being restored to original to qualify for Classic rallying.

Unfortunately none of the aftermarket body panel suppliers make anything that I want. The only panel available fron Toyota is the rear one that the numbe plate mounts onto although many mechanical parts are still obtainable.

PS How do you get the photo displayed on the post?

Yes very good and although they have the 4A-GE engine installed they may well become a collectors item. So just look after them. I guess you already know where all the potential rust spots are but make sure the plastic inner wheel arches are fitted else the top chassis rails rot away. Check the rear chassis rails over the back axle because sometimes they rust as well. It's worth lifting the carpets to check for rust too. However, the UK climate is more severe that yours especially with all the Rock Salt they put on the roads in the winter. Mechanically you shouldn't have any real problems.

Saw the video of you doing donuts, very good! At least you know the LSD is working OK! Looked at all the photo's too. Maybe sometime in the future you can strip one of them to the bare bodyshell and do a complete rebuild. Takes a long time but it's worth doing.

I believe there is a complete car less rear axle in Crete, standing in a front garden. If you're interested I'll get the details but I think it is in Agios Nikolaos near the seafront at the north end of the town. A friend of mine saw it and he thinks the bodyshell was in excellent condition.

We have a www.corollaclub.com which is a greek site for corolla owners.

We have some friends-members in Crete, i will inform them about Agios Nikolaos.

Thanks for your info. If you have more details it would be fine also.

I also have a red 5dr AE92 Corolla 1.6Gli with 4AFE automatic. Very nice shape, and car.

Thanks

Bit of a silly comment to make seeing as he has just been slated in another thread. Constructive criticism is much better and easier to take on board.
