I have just bought a 1990 previa 2.4 gl manual, on getting it home i have discovered it is coughing and sputtering like an old dog!

The Garage have told me that they will need to drop the engine to change the plugs and check the HT leads, as i know nothing whatsoever about these cars, or the price of a service, and what i can and can't do myself?

I would appreciate some help on this matter, before i get totaly ripped off.

:help: thanks

Paul

hi , i had the same problem with mine, its a 1998 previa. if its the same,

1) remove the driver seat held in with 4 bolts,

2) remove the jack and retaining plate,

3) remove the carpet trim held on by 3 screws

4) remove the plate/bracket that the petrol flap release lever is attached to

5) pull the carpet back

this should now show a series of gold coloured bolts, if these are removed, you should be able to remove a plate that will give you access to that side of the engine.

once removed, you have a cover that is held on by 3 bolts on the engine, remove this and then you should have complete access to the plug leads, plugs etc

the complete set is quite expensive but it makes the world of difference once changed

try eBay for previa parts, sometimes quite a lot cheaper than the high street

hope this is helpful to you.

regards
