sometimes when we start the engine , a thump noise comes from under the drivers seat. we have just had a new gearbox fitted so its not that ,anyone know what it could be?

we had the doughnuts done when we bought the car ,so it must be the mountings

My 94 Lucida has developed the same knocking sound at startup so I took it to my garage. They have ruled out exhaust brackets, starter motor, ring gear, transition plates, and torque converter. The engine mounts and gearbox mounts will have been inspected too whilst removing the gearbox. They have been unable to find the cause. Now they're putting it all back hoping that the act of removing and replacing the gearbox will cure it. I'll let you know!

More than likeley your SADS then

Try waiting a little longer after your glow plug light goes off before turning the engine over, I find this helps
