Camsahft Key Failure

hi has you may recall from previous posts i've had an engine replaced due to burning oil. New engine has done 2000 mile and i noticed a top end rattle lets say it sounded like the old fords used to the tappet rattle. Phoned up my dealer they got my car booked in to have it looked at, but on the way down the motorway the camshaft droped all 16 valves. Bang goes another vvt-i with 2000 miles. What i'm wondering is has anybody else whos had the new short block engine had this happen or notice any strange rattles. Toyota say the key was over torqed and sheerd off. The car is gonna be another week or so till its fixed but how do i know that after 2000 mile i aint going to have the same problem. The dealer is saying it wont but i've spoke to a toyota tech from where i work and he says it was over torqued like toyota but the dealer is saying its a faulty part. I do work for a toyota specialists and will be scrapping me warrenty when its due in the new year and have it maintained by them.

It sounds like a rebuild screw up to me. At that mileage after a rebuild someones screwed up putting the thing back together

mine was a rattle from the top end of the engine drivers side where all the pullys and belts are, on the vvt-i units its the timing chain side. Just sounded like a diesel on start up has tho the timing had slipped well out of place. Anyway getting a deal sorted at the weekend on a 53 plate avensis t3x fingers crossed.
