It’s called cynicism. ;)

Toyota started getting it right with the 3SGTE in the MKII , then went backwards with the 1ZZ in the MKIII.

The picture shows a tiny model engine, so this is my subtle way of saying that a future MR2 MK IV would have a less powerful engine than its predecessor. :P

Hope this helps

and Happy new year

The Mk3 is a great handling car .. just needs a bit more than the 140bhp they have.

(Why make the car so the T-sport engine doesn't just fit straigt in ?)

is that all theyve got 140bhp? is it vvti 1.8 or sumat? youd think it would have a bit more go in it than that after the 3s-gte engine in the mk2s

I've got the book about the history of the MR2 .. and basically, "sports" cars were not selling in the late 90's .. and small roadsters were ..

The MR2 Turbo was FAR too expensive and being outsold the world over by the MX5 ..

Now the new MR2 has to compete with MX5's, MGF's even the Barchetta .. in the "cheaper" roadster bracket. Then you had the S2000, Z4 and Boxter, Elise, SLK .. but with the new Boxter and SLK's they are becoming really expensive ..

The Mk3 was never designed to be a rapid car, it was designed to be a sporty fun drive. Unfortunatly .. some of us want a bit more poke ..
