I use Autoglym polish but they have brought out a new product since I last bought some polish and it's designed specifically for darker coloured cars. If u PM kimi she knows the name of it!

All good recommendations so far but if you don't want to break the bank Autoglym is the way to go and you still get very good results!

I've been using this since 1999 on a black Saab: http://www.victoriawax.com/historyofwax.htm

If I have enough time, I can still produce a swirl-free

deep gloss finish on this car. I polish the car once a

year and wax it twice. Keep in mind this car needs to

survive a Canadian winter, so two coats are normally

applied in the fall and one in the spring w/polish to get

out the grime. Fortunately, here where I live, the air is

the cleanest of any city in the world (per Mercer UK).

A quick (easy) re-wax in the early summer is done only for

the sake of pride. The wax goes on and polishes up fast

on a balmy day.

I'd say that most of the posts at Saabnet.com will take you to Klasse.

But why would I go to Klasse if I'm happy with my micro-business

classic show car wax from beautiful British Columbia?

There is NOTHING. I say again NOTHING quite so classy as

a highly-polished black car downtown at night.

Dont forget to wax on, right hand, wax off, left hand. Breathe in through nose, out of mouth, don't forget to breathe, very important.

Always remember: wax/polish on in circular motions;

wax/polish off in straight lines. (serious)

He`s right. Otherwise you end up with swirls and stuff. Also i found that KIWI parade ground shoe polish works a treat on things like door seals and rubber windscreen surrounds. Strange but true.

Thanks for the shoe polish tip. I've been using Mothers

Back to Black for many years with good success

on all black rubber and black plastic surfaces.

I just picked up what may be the best tire treatment I've

ever used having consideration for the money you'd waste

using Back to Black on tires. B2B works great,

but you need to use too much of it. On the tires, I just

discovered Black Magic.

only ever polish or wax in straight lines - ideally all the same way (to help do all panels in the same direction - think of the way the air will flow over the car. The air flow is irrelevant - its the doing it in the same direction thats important).

you go in circles - you risk marking the car in a circle. Circular swirl (or such) is visible from any angle.

go in a straight line - the swirl (or such) will be only be visible from a straight on angle

 Managed to pick up a 5 litre can of this for £20 at castle combe :D I can also say this is a great product really gives the paint work a deep shine and seems to make the paint work look darker it almost looks like it's wet still  And very easy to apply and remove it's really that easy to use

I don't know why the pros use orbital polishers and

polish mfgers like 3M include in their intructions which

orbital buffer/pad combination to use.

I guess it's because polishing and applying wax can

be safely done in circular motions. Removing polish, wax

or after-wax glosses and sealants are a whole other story.

This most definitely needs to be done in straight lines.

A combination of turtle was colour match and Auto Glym high resin polish (on specially bought mutton cloth) brings up the paint work nicely on this 18 year old supra TT!!!

It brings out the pearl in the paint nicely too!!!
