Hi there! You have a number of options for replacing your HU.

The first one is to replace with a genuine toyota rav4 double din hu with cd or even navigation - Check out eBay or elsewhere on the site to find the odd one or two for sale.

The second option is to use a rav4 facia adaptor to convert the big space in the centre of your dash to take a single din hu and leave you a bit of storage space. This looks like:

With this and the right ISO adapter:

you can install any standard single din hu (Cd - Md- DVD etc...).

Your third option is to buy a double din hu and iso adapter. This is what I opted for. A hu like the http://www.kenwood.be/kenwood/kenprod.nsf/...1257000003DB7BA almost fills the space and gives DVD, CD, MP3 and radio playback as standard and for a few extra quid you can have NAV, DAB or Ipod playback. It looks like this:

As you can see, I had to do a touch of modding around the sides as I was unable to find a retail solution for the fitting.

You can also find details on how to remove the original hu on the forum here:

Hope this helps...

The top model in the New Hilux range has an In Dash Six disc cd-changer and Radio, this will fit in the RAV4 but there is a question mark on whether the steering wheel controls will still work. Also officially the model isn’t listed for the RAV4 in the UK but it is in Some other European countries so it would work.

Hi,

Thanks for all your replies.

Had a talk with a Toyota garage and they told me that other heads from other car types not always fits. Even between different Rav 4 of other years there might be differents in connectors etc. The question is I saw a Toyota radio / cd head of a Previa for sale and was wondering if this will fit in a Rav 4.

Hi there I changed my casette player to a cd player bought for 80 quid on eBay which plugs straight in but beware of the colour of the illuminations, all my dials are red and my new stereo is green just a thought mate mennace
