Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Recommended Posts

Wutup all,

I am new to the Toyota world of sports cars. I have been working a 86 Civic Si off and on for 2 years. I just happen to be out one day and noticed this clean Celica GT-S for sale. I took a look at it and he only wanted 1300 bux for it. I drove it and it seemed to have potential even though the clutch had a little slippage. I ordered a Centerforce Dual Friction for it and it is currently being installed. If I understand correctly, this car has the 5sfe engine similar to that in the camry. Has anybody had any success in making this motor competitive in the world of sport compacts? Is it even worth working with this engine or should I find a 3sge/3sgte and do the swap. Good to be here!!

Welcome to the forum, i dont know much about the toyota engines but the generally the high performance engines have G E in their names.

For example the 3S-GE, 3S-GTE, 2JZ-GE, 2JZ-GTE etc

The FE engines are more economy as far as i know.

I personally would stick a 3S-GTE into the car if you can find one and can afford it. It would fit quite snug.

Worth looking into, only problem is your celica is only FWD if im correct which brings up the problem of getting traction if you have too much power.

You could always improve on the engine you have got by the usual methods of induction and exahust improvement. But you may find its not worth an engine swap.

Hummmm, tough call. But good luck :)
