interesting topic...

When i was a kid, i had posters on my walls of:

Lamborghini Countach - i really wanted one of those when i grew up..

A Porsche 959 and ferrari testarossa

The car I saw on the roads i wanted was the porsche 911..

when i was a teenager i went through a 'cossie' stage, but still really wanted the lambo (I think it had become the diablo at this point)

A Jaguar XJS! :D

Even started saving my pocket money for it... reaching a grand total of 50.86 and some foreign notes.

(Although my plan was immediately flawed when I put the 50.00 cheque from my nan in the savings box and not the bank! )

Toyota Celica - It was when all those adverts for "the car in front is a toyota" were about and we were in the car (vauxhall astra) and there was a celica in front. I was young and asked my dad - "Why haven't we got a Toyota" and he replied with something like "look how sporty they are we could never afford one of those" Always liked them since then

Never seen 1 on the roads but as a kid I always dreamed of having a Ferrari F40, I had about 4 different sized models of it

Even now if I won enough money to be able to afford 1 I'd buy 1 at the 1st opportunity. I can't think of any realistic cars that I loved, I just loved supercars that I know full well I'll never be able to afford (I could probably list hundreds of those but they're all the usual suspects so I wont bother).

i had intended this post for cars that are in reach that you saw driving on the roads lots, but nm, i had a diablo on my wall and a 911, ah the old days

My aspirations were never that high. The car I always dreamed of having when I was young is the MGB GT. By modern standards pretty crap I know but personally I still think they look nice today although I wouldn't want the hassle of running one on a regular basis.

i too like the MGB, although it was not a car i knew of when i was a kid

although from when i saw my 1st clio on the roads in 1991, i said to my dad, a clio will be my 1st car, and it was, always wanted one for some reason.

When I was young, E-tye jag... I liked the head lights ane the big oval grille with a single bar... Always liked them, luckilly for me, my dad is on and still has his second one, which I probably drive more then him  I also loved old Buggatis, T-35 and the obsenely large Royale... (note that I hated the EB-110 as I never saw it as a "proper" bugatti, but loved the veron concepot from day one!)

Get to about 10 or so, And as many have said here, the countach, I didn't like the diablo at first, it was too "clean" I liked all the angly bits on the countach, made it look meaner! I pretty much liked most pointy cars with flap up lights, I loved the BMW M1, Lotus Esprit.. I also liked the porsche 928 and 959.

I did once see a mkiii supra when I was about 10 or so, I never knew that the japanese could make desirable cars, as at that stage most of them were just hideously bland and functional... I then saw this sleak fast looking pointy thing, and noticed it was a toyota.. I kidna forgot about them for years after that

At one point, (circa sega rally release time) my dream car was a SillyCar GT-4. I begged my mum to sell her merc SL and get one.. she was not impressed  I also had a lancia delta liking stage :D

For me the 50 was too curvey and misshapen .. I'm a 40 man (and having sat in one I was hooked).

as a kid I used to drool over a Series 1 Escort RS Turbo that a neighbour owned  .

But I've always want a DeLorean - I'd rip out that awful Renault engine and drop in a V8 Hemi :) Just like they did for Back To The Future :)

I had loads of "dream" cars, none of which you would really see on the roads in an every day sense... like the Ferarri's and Lambo's etc... and as the question is what car did you see on the roads made you thinke etc... Mine was the MR2. I loved the MK1 and thought it looked really cool, especially with all the doors, boot lid, engine cover and bonnet open, then came the MK2 with the T-Bar top, had me drooling again.. and by this time i was getting to the stage of buying my 1st car, but couldn't afford an MR2... but i made a promise to myself that one day i would own my own... here i am today, the proud owner of the MK3 Roadster. :)

OK, it's not a Bugatti or a lambo, or indeed any other super car.. but i've got the car i allways wanted to own as a kid.

I've always loved the F40 and anyone who knows me knows that's my favourite car of all time!

(and having sat in one I was hooked).

Same here! I sat in one when i was 5 or something at a motor show and I can remember all the carbon fibre inside and just how simple it was but I still thought it was amazing! :D
