Fractured Thumb

Really stupid question I fractured my thumb on friday went to hospital they said i fractured it strapped it up and asked me to come back on monday to go to the fracture clinic.

can any one tell me if they have been told this too and if i have to go back so they can put am cast on it?

Probably a very slight fracture called a green stick or flake fracture. More likely to be some type of support strap glove thingy they will give you. And probably charge you for it too

the usual reason is because they want to wait for the swelling to go down

i used to be a bit of an expert at broken hand bones

combination of beer and friday :D

6 finger breaks one knuckle displaced and a broken thumb

when i packed in drinking my hand was sooooo happy :D

well i know it was disolocated but they said i have a distal something fracture, would be kinda cool to have a cast some people say they have had there thumbs cast and some say you cant just really curious suppose i will find out tommorrow!

At the mo i look like im just waiting for my gloves then i can fight tyson!

Perhaps the fracture clinic likes to see as many little patients as hospital on a Friday because of the weekend? I've heard something like that before

Did you go to A&E first of all? If so, they will have called you back because you probably just got seen by a doctor who doesn't specialise in any one part of the body. When you go back you will be seen by a 'hand doctor' and he'll know the best course of treatment for you.

I've recently been in hospital with a broken foot and had to go back and see the 'foot doctor'! :(

Yeah I'd agree with Ryan, they will give you a basic treatment and then you'll go back to see a specialist who can advise you further.

the thing that hurts the most is the nurse in a and e said i shouldnt drive for at least 6 to 8 weeks!!!

well been to the hospital after 3 hours it turns out i have 2 fractures on my thumb and have also fractured the scafoid bone in my wrist which might need surgery, they have put it in a cast and have to go back in 2 weeks for more x-rays what fun!!!

Ouch! well good luck with it anyhoo, sounds harsh :(
