i was impressed how my car could keep up with him and sometimes nearly overtook him when he has a 16ltr 16v engine :o i was really happy (and proud of my AYGO ) coming back home!

Trust me, he wasn’t trying and was probably teasing you... :yes:

you bet he was :yes: i was chasing him after he nearly took my side :ffs: by overtaking me from the inside! so he definetely was running for it :help: as i was ****** off

Haha this thread is Sssssooooo funny ....... do you really think that your 1.0l can really beat any of these cars off the line :lol:

It's either a crap driver or there not even trying

But hey we all have one of those experiences ...... I remember having one with a BMW 3 series, he decided he had enough of me giving it the 'big-un' in my super fast 1.3L yaris and put his foot down

There was no way my car could pull away like it did

So keep dreaming guys :angel:

There is no way an aygo beat anything on a straight but round corners is different cos i kept up with my mates's 1.4 escort and a 1.2 clio :D but when theres a staight piece of road i just get left behind :lol:

I was chasing after someone who in a big fast noisy vehicle. He seemed to try to lose me by going off road and then doing several sharp turns on a field. But he couldn't lose me even though I was in second gear. Sometimes I had to jolly well stop! After about two hours of following him (good job I had nothing important or worthwhile to do) he stopped and I asked him if he thought of fitting a sport exhaust and he said it would get in the way of the grass cutter. That 0-60mph time is obviously just made up, there's no chance an Aygo could achieve that! :thumbsup:

I believe it, i did 0-60 in about 13 secs with my mate in the car who is about 20st! so an aygo tested proffesionally would make it

Was that with a calendar and stock speedo?

I can see it being accurate .. but that's scary acceleration, for the wrong reasons. Pull onto a dual carridgeway and it's 13 secs before you are "up to speed". That's a LONG time.

I'm sure it's fine about town.

I used to be scared of my mates Ren 5 Campus .. 4 speed and topped out about 80mph. That was VERY scary on the M'way, little car, no power and being overtaken by lorries :lol:

I've driven a load of 1.0 - 1.5 liter cars, and they scare the hell out of me .. trying to join a motorway at 40/50 MPH (because you've had to drive up a slip road) and having no acceleration, with braking the only option to merge.

My usual garage has had the usual group of Micra/Corsa/Yaris curtousy cars, and when going home you go from a standing start (roundabout and tiny slip road), up a hill, trying to join a busy dual carridgeway (A303 -> A34).

One garage I used to use had a 2.0 Alfa as it's car, was SO much nicer to just have that *bit* of power.

I know why a lot of people are scared to drive on M'ways when they feel like they are being bullied.

If it scares you then I'd put that down to your personal confidence/driving skill :P . Yes there are times when the extra power is needed, but theres other times when it can get you into trouble.

I totally agree, I don't feel confident on a 1.0 .. I can't react (fowards) as quick as I like. I'm then relying on others to compensate for my lack of performance. And we all know what the average UK driver is like for compensating for other road users.

I like to be in a car where I hit the throttle, it moves foward quick. I hit the brakes and i slow quick, and where a tweak of the wheel I can change lanes quick.

I commuted on the M4 daily for 5 years. And I hated every time I had to do it in a 0-60 in 10+ second car.

well we have no motorways over here ! but never had problems with my car in the way you are saying B) i had a car that can do 0 - 60 in 6.2 secs (well still have) but on the road all you do is wheel spin even in 2nd gear if you go too hard on the accellerator ,the Aygo is just right! it still can wheel spin the 195 15" tyres in 1st but you have to try that its not just gona happen like with the other car! :thumbsup: i am very happy with it as i can keep my girlfriends hyundai coupe side on 2nd and 3rd and thats a 2ltr! i know its heavy :rolleyes: but its still a 2ltr! and around cornersi forget she is behind me :P

Renault 5 GT Turbo was based on the later Supercinq, proper anorak that's me, it was the car I learnt to drive in :eek: No I did n't crash it, my dad did before I could :ffs: :lol:. Well that finished any chance of me getting it when he'd got bored of it.

Not before we went to the Fac 51 The Hacienda though. ;)

How do those white Citroen Berlingos manage everyday on the motorway? You know with the hows my driving phone number on the back, so the delivery driver gets sacked if enough people don't complain about his speed. :lol:

1. They are empty and are deceptivly nimble

2. They are so dirty that you can't read the number (with witty, "wish my wife was this filthy" on the back)

I do at times agree with bibbs but i drive my 1.0 3cyl 107 every day merging with the M40 from the A452. More often than not i am stuck behind a plonker in a powerful Beemer Merc or audi that insists on merging at 50 or less into the truck lane. Now i know my car aint no 0-60 sprint champion but with the way others drive it is more than enough to outpace the dimwitted in the morning dash to work.

As they say it aint what you got, its how you drive it that counts.

Oh and most my 14K have been done on the M1 in this car and never felt scared once! Cruising at 70-80 is a doddle.

I fully agree with you Pug Bug. It's the driving that counts and especially anticipation! :eek:

I don't know how long your merging lanes are over there in the UK, but here in Holland I have plenty of time to synchronize with the others and slip in. Especially with an Aygo you don't need that much space after all to get in between a Merc and an BMW B)

Furthermore, once on the motorway I never felt unsafe because of lacking acceleration. Speed isn't a problem either as the limit here is 120 km/h and I do easily 165 km/h with myago. I have to say though that in Holland everything is flat, no hills or mountains.

Therefore I wouldn't be so sure whether I felt comfortable driving in the southern part of Germany ( Bayern) with steep upslopes, no speed limit and chasing Porsches in the back of my little car! :(

man.. even being only the turbo one.. we must still have PH34R!!! hahaha.. that R5 chassis is very good around the corners, and still has a lot of horsepower for that litle car.. :)

Have heard that MMT models select 3rd uphill and do 85mph on the motorway all day, I have never tried though. :unsure:
