Engine For Carina E 2.0 16v Auto

I need an engine for a Carina E 2.0 16v auto.

Will an engine for a manual fit ?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

a manual should fit, what engine is it?

3s-GE ? 3s-FE ? (should be written on the cam cover)

It's a 3S FE

The local dealers say they aren't exchangable

Toyota UK call centre can't help

But a lot of other people with 2 hand engines to sell say they are exchangable.

And www.techdoc.toyota-europe.com doesn't work.

If somebody could help with Technical Documentation. I need to know for sure - I don't want to buy a donkey.

Would have thought that the only diff would be the ECU for the Auto and the g'box ..

Is the Auto ECU a part of the std engine ECU? Or is it separate.

There are plenty of 3S-GE's about.

www.roguesystems.co.uk usually have a few. They should also be able to advise on auto/manual differences .. (they break and sell import MR2's - same engine)
