I'm quite looking forward to trying out the Soarer on the track, anybody else want to come along?

The plan would be an early start to get there before the crowds, get a cheeky three runs or so in early then maybe stop for a bite on the way home and have the whole afternoon free to do something else. Not planning to spend the entire day there.

Anybody else up for this?

Paul.

  • 3 weeks later...

How does this sound for a plan:

Meet at Toddington services northbound on the M1 (between J11 and J12, LU5 6HR) somewhere around 7:50am-8am. Leaving no later than 8:10am or so for the Pod

It is £10 to get in to the venue, £20 for as many runs as you like. Remember driving license and helmet if your terminal speed is over 100mph (or mess up the start like me :D ).

Everybody welcome. If you want to meet at Toddington, PM me for my mobile and we might wait for you :P

SIgn on starts at 8:30 so maybe we should go earlier. Have to wait until 9:30 for the track to be ready, though.

Right, maybe better call it 7:30am at Toddington

Which route are you going to take to Toddington? I'll catch you up on the way if you are passing somewhere near by.

Easiest for me is M4, M25, M1

You can always head over to mine in the morning if you like, but from Marlow your better off getting up to the M40 :)

Probabaly best to meet us at Toddington

That's a shame. We will just have to race the 1JZ vs. 2JZ another time :D

But have fun ;)

Of course!

I'll have a word with the other half as we want to see what our new Supercharged MK1 will do a 1/4 in.

We had it on rollers on the weekend and got 179.3 @ Fly, 134.9 @ wheels & 160ftlb Torque with ambient temp @ 29.9 degrees B)

I thought about that but it can get quite busy that weekend. Not sure whether I can make JS yet anyway.

Looks like I'll be flying the flag for the team then :D

Well did a handy 14.6 and then two 14.9s but I wasn't going to get any faster as it was pretty warm even at 10am in the morning :crybaby:

Didn't have to do anything special on the start but still roasted a 4wd Escort Cossie off the line ... although he did come by pretty quickly later on :D 1st gear on the Soarer is great---it's a traffic light car---but second is a bit too long for the sprint, really.

Was very impressed with the commitment from the engine when simply putting the foot down from standstill. Maybe next time I might hold the brakes for a while and see if it will spin up the rears a little
