Are Supra's Worth It?

I absoulutly love supras, i think they are such a cool looking car and really want one but then i think about there age, is it worth paying 10k to 12k for a car thats like 12+ years old, surely ur open to lots of things mechanically goin wrong which just adds to the cost!

so...are they worth it??

The MKIV was released in 1993, so only a max of 13 years old. And you won't be paying 10k-12k for an early one.

Put into perspective, what else for that money will get you that power, even at that sort of age, the supra is reliable, as long as it's been looked after.

I may sound daft, but when it coems to cars they relly "don't make em like they used to"

I think late 8-s/early 90s cars were the best about, as most of the technology was there, but the tree huggers had not totally had their way and smashed the life and soul out of everything automotive (like with modern cars)

I also think older cars in general seen to be built better..... (talking more in the luxury sector here)

ive seen TT supra's for around 6-7k with lowish mileage and 1994/5 i think on autotrader .

also upto 10k you can get impreza turbo's which are as quick if not quicker(if you find the top spec model) than a supra ;) and ive seen wrx sti(bug eye shape ) on autotrader for around 13k , infact you can get EVO's in the same price range B)

yeah but you'd own a SCOOBY !! beside which i think you'll find the supra will leave a scooby no problem in the higher figures.

they both in the same competetive market ;) and i think a std scooby would own a std supra off the mark and round a track due to better traction and plus lighter car , but straight line the supra more than likely win top end as the scoobies suffer having 4x4 drivetrain ;) . now a moddifide scoobie vs moddifide supra is a whole different story :P .

i love the bug eyed shape wrx sti's , test drove one couple years back n loved every minute :D , fastest car ive driven and havnt driven a car as fast or near as that since .

top spec scooby produce 275bhp, a veyron has 1001bhp so it needen worry :P .

either way i was pointing out what else you could get for the money :P

i like many of the high jap performance cars and to be noticed id get the mk5 as its the one people think of, but would go for the older shape non turbo for the affordabiliy and a wolf in sheep clothing to people who dont know what they are :P .

well sorry, i read they was limited to 275bhp or something do to their laws ;) ., i might also be talking about the P1 :P .

im not preaching and plus who ever it was said theres nothing for 10k thats good enough to compare with the supra and i suggest the scooby as its in the same league, same as evo's etc , thats sticking with jap, theres other non jap cars that are in the same league ;) .

mk5? There are only 4 types of Supra. The mk3 it hardly a sheep, it's all US styling and chest wig with Ovaltine lid on a chain (queue Charlie).

It was that no Jap cars were produced over 280PS ~ 276bhp .. there are two theories for this. The first was a "gentlemans agreement" to cap the power so they'd not have an advertising war (like Merc, Audi and BMW are now) and the other was due to the JGTC (Super GT) and the cars compeating in the 300PS class.

They are TOTALLY different cars .. 2.0 vs 3.0 .. saloon vs sports .. rally vs track

The Supra is in line with the Skyline, NSX & 300ZX in Japan, and the low spec 911 & M3's in europe.

The sh*tsubishi and scumbaru's are just rally wannabe's .. (and the fact the Focus, Xara and 307 are winning more rallies says too much). They (were) just 2.0 4x4's to compare with the Celica GT4 and Nissan Sunny (Pulsar).

I have never been fortunate enough to own a Supra but they are still my dream super car after a Viper :)

You've not seen the Oxford road in Reading then Motorbikes have a hard time because all the trafic sits in the middle of the road, filtering is a nightmare. The only time a bike can overtake is on the wrong side of the keep left signs and usually ends up in tears as blind peeps in saloons overtake busses.
