if you were sat with my car about to swap the oil what would you chuck in?

Just a few questions.

What BHP are you running?

What is the car used for?

What are your maximum oil temps?

The pod last weekend was hot, I was there too. What oil temps did you see?

approx 270bhp

daily driving, odd track day, odd quater mile, bit of fast road

cant comment on the temps as i dont have a gauge :(

but i was at the pod too and i was running...

A proper fully synthetic (non petroleum based) 5w-40 would be my recommendation. Either Silkolene PRO S or Motul 300V / 8100 would be two of my top picks.

Since changing to fully synthetic 5W-40 Mobil 1 oil about 700 miles ago, my YTS has developed a severe engine rattle... (valvetrain? lifters?)

I'm presuming the oil is too thin for this engine.

I have read on other forums about some Toyota engines not being too tolerant of high viscosity oils...

I'm unsure whether the noise equals more wear or is just more annoying...

The recommended oil is 10w-40 semi-synthetic. The recommended spec is API CF/CF-4.
