Just thought I'd have a moan

My Celi failed her MOT yesterday :crybaby:

Needed two rear shocks which cost me £150 from Car Spares, £250 to Mr T to fit them, which i had to cash for. Not a problem

MOT failed cuz my front driver side bearing had gone, another £350 for parts and labour.

So all in all my damn MOT cost shy of £800

Didn't realise that Mr T charges £45 per hour , nearly fell over when got handed the invoice. I just can't believe that it cost that much :ffs:

Next year she is going to a normal cheap garage

I suppose it looks good when i come to sell her, that all the work has been done my Mr T.

Also had a Yaris as a courtesy car, there actually a nice car

Ouch. :crybaby: Poor you. Definately find yourself a good independent garage. Pays off in the end. Likewise parts. Only use Mr T if there is no viable alternative.

As for the Yaris. My outlaws had a couple over the years. rated them quite highly. (Till they bought a new 'rolla) And they certainly have a dedicated following on here.

I work at an independant Mercedes specialist and we charge £40 per hour plus vat. 3 years ago the local Volvo dealer ( Crewe in Cheshire ) were charging £100.00 per hour plus vat that is bit TOO steep, we had a customer who came from the Volvo dealer who charged him 10 hours to remove his cylinder head !! ouch !

in 3 years time it may be 50 quid more valueable than 1 without history.

i traded in my gt4 for 4800 and the guy didnt even want the service history , he later sold it for 6995

If i bought a new shiny celica or something then going to Mr T could be justified but on an old celica , not worth it . Your celi was nice but 6995 seems excesive for the age??!!!

you should have asked on TOC, i charge 24 cans of lager for any job, but £350 to fit a wheel bearing!!!! LMAO bearing should cost no more than £30 and there a doddle to fit, 30 min job??? my advice is go back, play f*** and if you dont come out with a result, smash or steel something......

Kirstie thats mad, The cost is more than excessive. The bearing is and SKF part that Mr T would get for about £25 quid. Inclusive of seals. I can get you the part number. You need to see how much thay charged you for the bearing and new seal kit, then the labour charge. Dispute the number of hours and the cost of parts. Did you authorise all of the repairs?

I was about to change my rear shock's and was thinking not too expensive at £110, will be chuffed to bits thinking that fitting them will be saving me £250.

I wonder how much I saved myself replacing the night illumination bulbs on my the climate control box.

I think at Toyota rates I have clearly performed a higher value of labour on the car than it's actual purchase price.

Normally i wouldn't pay dealer prices, but i knew that my suspension needed doing, i rang a few local garages and they told me that you need a special tool to compress the springs as a normal spring compresser isn't strong enough  So i took it to Mr. T.

It was only supposed to go to Mr. T to the MOT as it was cheaper than my local garage. £38 instead of £45

But when he put it throught the MOT, and it failed on a couple of bulbs and the driver side front bearing.

It took 4 hours to change struts and 5 hours to do bearing, that what chap at Mr. T said anyway :crybaby:

Ive learnt my lesson anyway, an expensive one at that :crybaby:

I'll know next time to ask on here first.

I'd not pay your average dealership mechanic 5p an hour to go anywhere near my car with a spanner!!!!

Sorry to rub it in... :!Removed!: the red supra passed yeaterday with flying colours

There is no way that Toyota can Justfy 5 hours to change a front wheel bearing. I can do one in three without all the fancy toyota tools. They can stuff off.

Can anyone else comment on why standard spring clamps won't do the rear shock's of a celica. This is news to me, and again I do not think t is quite true.

5 hours to change a wheel bearing????

What did he do , go to australia first to fetch it?

That seriously is a joke and they saw you coming - i would go back and kick off big style

Next time take it to an MOT only station - they will give you an independant MOT, as they dont do anything but MOT's , they wont rip you off for any extras because they arnt benefitting from it

It costs a bit more for an MOT from one of these places but to save your self £800 next time its worth it! :!Removed!:
