Who's A Good Insurer For A Modded T-sport?

Hi Guys (and Gals)

I was just wondering if any of you pros could point me in the right direction for a good Insurer if I'm wanting to Mod my T-sport.

I'm currently with direct line, however because i'm only 21 they won't insure me if I want to mod my little pocket rocket :crybaby:

So I basically have an exhaust & Air filter sitting at my house whilst the torment of not being able to fit them eats away at my Vegetating Brain!!!!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Ps. It would be for only 1 years no claims

Thanks

You could try Adrian Flux.......................he specialises in insuring modded cars and some folk on these forums are insured through him

I'm with Norwich Union. My Yaris is standard, but when I had my Micra I had a few little mods on it (alloys, exhaust, air filter  ) and they allowed that. Think I had to ring them though, to get those added to the policy. Think those bits cost me about an extra £40 on the insurance.

Adrian flux, very mod friendly, mines not the most standard of cars, all mods declared, 4 years ncb, im only 21 and pay a very reasonable price :)

I find adrian flux very expensive.

I'm with elephant, they will insure you with certain mods, I have exhaust, air filter, alloys.

£14 extra for uprated brakes, pads and brake lines

And they've just upped it £24 for coilovers (maximum 50mm lowering)

The exhaust mod covers manifold and rest of exhaust system if I ever decide to upgrade in future.

also you can get 10 months bonus accellerator save waiting 12 months.

It is advisable to be very careful when insuring mods with some companies, as they may well charge you extra for having the mods on your car but will not necessarily pay you the cost of replacing/refitting the mods should you be unfortunate enough to have to make a claim.

It may pay you to get confirmation that you are FULLY covered for replacement mods before taking out insurance with (apparently) budget priced companies.

Yeah, elephant don't do like for like, they just replace them with standard parts.

Anyway, I'm with elephant aswell but my car is just a standard T-Sport. On my old policy my car was modified a bit and they allowed them and it was still a very reasonable price!

I know I won't be paid for mine in the event of an accident.

Can't afford what other companies charge, may try demon tweeks on insurance

elephant....

had my yaris with them with about 6k of mods and it cost me around 650quid

got the MR2 also with them (albeit being older and wiser) only costs me 430... but opted for the full Euro breakdown service for 70 quid

Yaris in its lesser state now only costs me 200notes with them, but thats soon to change again :D

I'm with elephant too. They were the only company i could afford after declaring my mods. Alot of people dont seem to like them though.

Be careful with that, a lot of places only accept the 10 month accelerator as a full year if it was with them. For the difference between the 2 you're probably better off paying for the extra 2 months & getting a year's NCB wherever you go

If you do the elephant 10 month accelerator it gives you a full year with any other insurer!

After a certain point the like for like replacement on the mods with Adrian Flux means it becomes a no brainer ... for the likes of me the mods are worth more than the car ...
