I reckon it's Prius ( Pry-us ), but that's just me.

We have this debate annually on the Sera forum, none of us can decide on our cars either :P

Pre-us or Pri-us

I think the English language affords us both pronunciations.

'Pri' as is Primate

'Pre' as in Prima Donna

Personally I refer to mine as Pre-us.

DEFINATELY PRE-us.........

Go to any Toyota showroom and they pronounce it as above.

I'll be delighted if they do.

I must say at first I was convinced it should Pry-us, assuming it was derived from Latin and like private, prior, but then I only studied Latin for one year and managed a miserable 40% in the exam.

I wish we could get such consistent of pronunciation for Aygo (i-go)! As for Auris....

Toyota speak calls it the PREE-US, however as it is from the latin for "before its time" the correct pronunciation is PRY-us, as the laws of latin pronunciation are rigid and fixed ***** any public or grammar school boy could tell you. that said when it comes to trade-names when has the correct pronunciation or usage been applied.

Sorry Mike, mine was a `Comprehensive` education ! ;)

Still think PRY-us sounds painful !!! :P

In prefer to PREE rather than PRY !
