R C Kit Cars

Recommended Posts

Anyone here got RC kit cars, I have had them since I was a kid.

Currently got a Schumacher Cougar.

Had a Tamiya Madcap.

Never raced them tho, just liked building them and running them up the street.

They are easy to run if you clean them up after using them as if not it all builds up and then requires overhall but thats quite fun to lol!

They are just insanely fast, mines got .18 cc engine and 4wd and sticks to the ground like anything!

Got mine from hobby stores to, nice vid!

Ill get some pics up of it tommorrow!

You can usually run the nitro cars until you get bored, just have to clean them up, very expensive hobby tho, something always seems to need replacing!

I used to be into these in a big way!

I also had a madcap (torque control gearbox and torsen LSD, Oil filled dampers, faaaat tyres and some kind of trinity motor)

A Bullhead (twin motor 4wd 4wsteering madness)

An inferno 10 (4wd nitro buggy, stock apart from OS engine and MIP head)

and a Lancia delta, which was later a skyline then asn escort cosworth, fill ball bearings, upgraded to the alter chassis, then that was upgraded to the double deck carbon fobre one, M trocks ECS, Kinwald race motor, lowered lots, ARBs, Proline tyres and a few other mods... that was FAST. for about 3 min then the Battery was flat lol.

I still ahve them all but none work... I keep meaning to fix them up, but parts can be hard to get for some of the oldschool ones!

I am thinking of making my own chassis, using the inferno nitro running gear, but with two notro engines, one driving the front, the other the back wheels, the bullhead tyres (biiiiiiig monster truck) and an old toyota highlux Shell to make some kinda twin engined monster stadium truck highlux...

Those nitro cars seem TOO quick :o Surely you need huge expanses of land and quick reactions to control those well! Mate has one also but aint had a go on it yet!

I have considered selling mine fora few extra pennies a few times, but every time I actually think about it I Consider that they are worth %$( all, and its not worth letting them go for it, especially with the money spent on them!

theyre only as quick as you push the throttle :)

the vid of mine was done whilst still using up the last of my running in fuel (10% nitromethane) i now run 25% and it makes a huge differance, you can have fun anywhere with the off road type buggies and trucks and it doesnt need to be all that big. these types are made for bashing ie jumps and general offroad hooliganism :)

I'm well in to rc stuff :D

I got cars, boats, helicopters, and planes

I have had quite a lot of nitro cars and to be honest your best off spending a bit more on a petrol marder, they are 1-6th scale and have a 26cc jap engine in them! yep not a tipo 26cc! loads of tuning parts for them just like real cars, mine got about 4-5 bhp which is loads for a rc car. they do about 50-60mph standard on grass, mine now doing around 80mph on grass  the best bit is they can go on rough ground no problem and long grass, even off road in lots of mud. so finding a place to use them is much more easy, I had mine out in the snow few days ago, crazy stuff.

because they use a 26cc engine found in chainsaws, they have a spark plug and pull start. all ways starts and no glow plugs, plus petrol is miles cheaper than glow fuel, i use Shell 99ron to

My Hubby is well into his RC stuff. He's had so many planes & gliders I've lost count over the last 11 years. Most see the sky then land in a few more pieces they were in originally. He says the fun part is the maiden flight and then rebuilding/moding them.

He's had petrol cars and even a helicopter (which never really left the ground) There are some amazing youtube vids of helicopters being flown.

At the moment he's mastering the Hydro plane I bought him for Chrimbo. He's currently on his second fuselage

i got one but its idling speed is all wrong and it just stalls, i have a screw stuck in one of the posts meaning a body won't fit properly, is saloon car shape, 4 wheel drive with a top speed of like 70mph but so far it either doesn't move or goes straight into the wall at top speed haha need to get a professional to have a gander

if you look on the carb you will have three screws. one on the end of the throttle slide, this is the low speed needle (LSN) one on the end where the fuel pipe connects, this is the high speed needle (HSN) and a small one in the side near the air filter (usualy) this is the idle speed screw. set this to give about 1mm of opening on the slide. the other two screw in till it stops (dont force it) and back out 2 1/2 turns. when setting the LSN fully open the throttle while adjusting.

these settings should be enough to get it going. from there on its just small adustments (1/8th of a turn) screwing in wil lean the mixture and out richen.

if the car stalls during transition from idle to full throttle adjust the LSN once set you dont need to touch this needle same goes for the idle speed.

if the car bogs at full speed you need to richen the HSN if it splutters at speed you need to lean the HSN.

make sure you always see a faint trail of smoke from the zorst as then you wont risk overheating the engine.

hope that helps
