When I went to buy a new one, the dealers also told me the rev counter could not be retrofit(!)

The only movement on mine is the needle going up and down !

I have just purchased a Peugeot Rev counter for my Aygo...they have dropped the price ( Jan 08 ) Rev counter and screw now £102.16

6105vk = screw

6106SL = Rev counter

And your need a dremmel to shape the cowling hole

I see Toyota want £274.43 (Part no: 83270-0H020-B1 ) for the kit ..amazing !!!!

you need a dremel to shape the cowling hole

I strongly advise AGAINST use of a Dremel as it tends to melt

the plastic rather than cut it, leaving an ugly jagged edge.

As you can see on the previous page I cut my cowling with nothing more than a sharpie knife and some patience.

The trick is to not want to cut too deep, too fast, but rather to make score

after score in the softish plastic untill it slowly breaks trhough on the other side.

This way you have more control over your cut and the edgs is much cleaner.

Brilliant - i'm always enthusiastic with my revs so this will give me reference/peace of mind. Thank you. :P

I took off the dashboard and swapped out he OEM stereo really easy- I assumed (me being a DIY muppet) that it would be a nightmare.

For cutting into dashboard plastic, sawing leaves a jagged edge and I don't have the patience to cut with a sharp knife.

A hot knife works best. When installing a dummy alarm LED and center armrest, I heated an appropriately sized drill bit

I fitted the rev counter (thanks for the guide!) and used the genuine pre-cut speedometer cowl rather than taking a saw to the existing one.

As a result, I have a spare speedo cover WITHOUT the rev-counter slot in it.

If anyone bodges their cover with a hacksaw and would like another go, PM me and I'll post it to you.

Please only contact me if you want to use it, and not if you just want some free tat to put on eBay! :)

I've got an Aygo Blue with the colour coded cowl and being lazy I was wondering if anyone knew if I can just get the pre-cut cowl and swap the silver bit over with my blue bit?

Does it just clip off?

I'll need to get the rev counter surround colour coded, but I have seen in other posts that it clips off, so I hope the cowl is just the same.

Cheers in advance for your help :D

P.S. Is there a gallery on the site with people's Aygo's in it? Had a look and can't find any Aygo's. Just wanting to see different alloys on cars to help make my mind up on wheels.

That's an awesome site.

Found some fantastic step-by-step instructions on exactly what I was after.

The bezel clips off of the cowl when you've got it out of the car.

The Ring around the Revv counter twists off.

I read somewhere that the ring might be available

in the correct color from the dealer too!

Just noticed that the parts numbers listed on here differ between posts :o

Any confirmation on part numbers?

Don't want to look like an ***** when I go in to order the bits

Sorry, can't help you with part#'s as I have an LHD car, so I have a lefthand side revv counter...

As for the buel ring around it: they made a mistake...

However, they DID say that you could order a complete revv counter with blue ring...

Does anybody know

The sales man at the toyota store told me that there can be differents in colour between the Aygo and the C1 of this rpm meter. Is this true because i bought the car with a rpm meter of the C1 but the sales man told me if i bought the original toyota it will be 40% expensiver so he said to me i'll fix you one of a C1 but there can be colour differents.

It's cost me included fitting 100,- in euro.

There is absolutely NO difference in color.

And €100 including fitting is a good price: I paid €95 and fit it

myself, which for me included cutting a hole in the dash-cowling...

He told me it was the original which they don't have to cut in.

I believe him because he told me he will order the counter of a Citroen store which is next to the Toyota store.

And I saw them fixing just one for a another customer with the spare part box of Citroen.

But I'm happy there aren't any colour differents.

My mechanic (hubby Les :P) rang to see if they had a rev counter in stock out of curiosity and guess what?............They had one in (as well as a cowl) B)

Anyhoo, after a trip to the local Pug stores and a haggle for discount we came away with everything necessary to do the job.

The cowl came as a kit (upper & lower) and the screw was thrown in for free, with the 15% discount it cost £113.78 :D

All the bits

Receipt giving current prices

Thought it'd takes ages to do n keep my hubby out of trouble for a while but thanks to Unklian for the detailed description for fitting.....as on box took five minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now I have my my first mod on the Aygo................more to come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yahoo:

Hi

I'm wanting to put a rev counter into my Aygo. (The Pug one, obviously :D )

Apparently the counter has been superceeded. Part No. 6105VN is now 6106SL

Two questions.

Does anyone know what the difference is?

I know they work out of the box, but does anything need to be done to the computer or are they 100% plug & play. ? The guy at Peugeot seemed to think there may be some "coding" to be done after the fitting of a rev counter.

Thanks all

Lofty.
