was down at the local Halfords today and they said the tachos they sold would give the wrong reading due to the engine type...

anyway does anyone know what kinda connections are under the dashboard etc that would help me choose (i am total newbie at this lol)

Thx in advance

Im really wanting one of these. Sadly there doesnt seem to be a 2009 blue version, so how would i go about painting one without the paint eventually falling off?

You can get the roof spoilers painted in Cayman Blue - surely you must be able to get the rev counter in that colour as well. Have you asked the dealer?

Hmm interesting, could be worth finding out.

I bought some spray paint from Kingo and did it myself. The bezel comes off the tacho quite easily (turn it anti-clockwise).

The bezel is quite tight but moves easily if you get a good grip around it.

Putting it back with paint on the lugs was more of a challenge - the lugs were quite tight in the holes and could be easily broken if you are not careful.

I think the reason why Toyota parts are so expensive in Malta is because the cars and parts are shipped from the UK. This is because Malta does not have a large market so is considered an extension of Toyota UK, much like a UK dealership but abroad. The local delaership showroom is even built on the same lines and resembles very much any official Toyota delearship in the UK. I think the plans where even borrowed form Toyota UK!

Our cars even have the Toyota UK numbers etched on the glass etc.

I just bought a door switch to fit on the passenger side and was charged almost £11 (12.52 Euros) for the switch and the screw. Next time I'm buying a part or accessory I'm visiting the Peugeot dealer. You can see most 107's, even the car-hire ones with the rev counter! I was asked to fork out almost 350Euros when I asked for the rev counter to be included with my Aygo in 2006! Don't know why Toyota parts are so expensive when they are the same as the 107 and the C1.

We even get charged more for everything and it's not because we are on an island! I paid the equivalent of £11890 for my Aygo+ including A/C, MMT and registration in 2006!

In The Netherlands they charge over £20 for the switch and

nearly £3 for the screw, so actually your pricing is VERY good...

First, go to a Peugeot Dealer and order these parts.

Rev counter 6105VN

Rev counter screw 6105VK

Rev counter cowling 4131Z5

About £134.00

Your new pod has slot in it like this:-

Turn the steering wheel to the left revealing this screw.

P1010128-1.jpg

remove it. Turm the wheel to the right and remove the other.

Carefully lift up the old speedo housing cover revealing:-

P1010129.jpg

You will see a small white plug taped to the rest of the wires.

Untape it and push it into this socket on the bottom of the Rev-counter:-

Then, slide the Rev-counter into place like this:-

Fit the bolt and tighten it.

Slide the new speedo cover into place and secure with the two screws.

Job done.

Yes, the online Pug shop is the cheapest at £115

Here: http://www.thepeugeotshop.co.uk/product/Re...nter_Kit_4131Z5

The price has increased a little now £126.86 inc VAT but still way cheaper than Toyota. Just ordered one on-line today. Looking forward to seeing if it's as easy to fit for my limited technical skills as everyone else seems to have found it

Got my rev counter today and fitted it, such an easy job to do could hardly call it a job really. Interestingly had a look at ordering one through my toyota dealer in Ireland, 450 euros. got mine from pugeot UK for £175, somebody along the line is making serious money.

Rev counter arrived today from thepeugeotshop.com took about 5 minutes to fit and most of that time is jiggling the new cowl into place. Looks great and very easy to do, as others have said if you can open the box it comes in you can fit it ;)

I found a rev counter from a scrappy (sorry can't remember which) £75, cut out the notch myself with a stanley knife following the outline underneath the cowl. Jobs a good un.

A bit confused. As when I was looking for my new car I went for 107 first and the dealer told me it'll cost 30 pounds to add a rev counter. Then I went to Toyota dealer for aygo and was told it'll cost 150 for the rev counter. So I ordered an Aygo without rev counter and was thinking I might get one fixed for under 30 quids. But after read this post I wonder if toyota was giving me a very reasonable price for 150 including toyota standard fitting.....

The £30 from Peugeot is only applicable when buying an entire car around it...

The £150 from Toyota seems about normal, which is a LOT less than when I

first bought my car. In 2006 they wanted allmost €300 for the damn thing...

They're making serious money out of a rev counter.....

I think I'll just drive without it, haha

I'm not tech minded at all but the rev counter etc was so easy to fit - 5 to 10 mins max! Managed to get the counter and cowling for under £50 from a scrap yard!!! Only wanted one as they look cool ;-)

Just being reading through all this and it seems I hit some luck with my Rev counter.

I had my Aygo blue priced up to buy and had it order. Deciding last minute to ask them to add a rev counter... and the amount the already agreed price went up by.... £0.

They just put one on for nothing.

Infact if you wanted you could have one on either side, and wire them up to work together :D

I thought about buying a left hand drive casing and putting a shift light or temp gauge in it, but i fitted a flexible shiftlight to the edge of the speedo housing instead.

Hmmm... now you've got me wondering - if there's any chance of getting a Scanguage to fit into a LHD pod...

I can confirm that hooking uptwo at once WILL work:

Please wait a few seconds for Video to load!

And as I doe HAVE a ScanGauge II I can tell you it will NOT fit the revcounter-

pod: the SG is too long (or the pod too small), I couldn't get my TomTom One v2

to fit in the pod either, even when I removed the casing of the TomTom...

So I made a cradle from which the TomTom can be removed:

100_5463.JPG

That Tom Tom cradle is awesome! ... how did you make it?! and does it charge the Tom tom too?!

The Cradle took me about 3 hours to make. I took a RHD revcounters'

base and made the mount for the TomTom I had fit onto that.

Then made the internal charging circuitry fit under the cowling and

connected it up to the secons revcounter-plug I made under there.

But the cradle is no more... I took it apart as it vibrated too much

and made it virtually impossible to remove the cowling when replacing

a fuse. And as I do a lot of electric mods on my car I DO blow fuses

more often than the average user, so this was a real pain in the behind.

So I took it off and took it partially apart to sell some pieces.

I'm now contemplating what to do with the TomTom AND what to

do with the freed space. I might mount a Parrot carkit there :D
