i have a 1994 celica gen 6 that i imported personally. the original single in dash CD player rejects any CD you put in it. it once accepted one uk disc but it doesn't accept it anymore.

could someone please tell why this is happening as i dont want to go through the trouble of changing the double din for a single.

Where did you get the car imported from?

Give us more details make & model of the cd player?

If it's possible, try and remove the cd player and have it serviced

Surprisingly, most people think they last and play forever  , but few remember that they do need to be serviced to get the best out of them, dust and muck get inside of them and cloggs them up.

Good tip for anybody, before you change it for new, cause it won't play your cd's.

Think it as your car, would you have a car for 5 years before you think about having it serviced  , i know i won't

Do a search on google for a car audio specialist near where you live, and see what brings up.

Then call them about your prob, and ask them to remove your H/U and get it serviced, would be about £50, alot i know, but well worth it.

Perhaps they might know something else what the prob could be that i might of have over looked.

Hope that helps.

Are they original CD's or copies?

Mine refused to read the copied CD's so it could be that.

Or its region locked.

Not normally an issue with region locking on CD's especially older albums.

Sounds very much like the laser has gone, common symptom with CD players is rejecting the CD if it can't 'see' it.

DON'T use one of those cd lens cleaning discs they are more likely to damage the laser assembly than clean it! Get it professionaly serviced or laser replaced.
