Yaris Suspension: 1.0 Vs 1.3

Hi.

Does anyone know if the suspension of the Yaris 1.3 is the same of the Yaris 1.0? (I mean for example the hardness of the shock absorbers)

And about the 1.3, I read in some place that this engine is really noisy in highways. Is this true?

Regards.

the sus on my 1.0 is a litte hard but its got a "sporty"feel if u kow waht i mean ( lol sporty 1.0L)

On the motor way the car is a little noise, but i hope to get rid of most of the road noise by getting some michlelin tyres on my noew wheels.

The car is designed for the town and it works really well there.

Yes, I know, but I can't afford to buy a bigger car and, really, I don't need it, since there are superminis that are good also in the motor way. So, since I do some motor way everyday and on holidays a lot, I will need a small car that performs also good on long journeys.. It is a question of €, you know. The Renault Clio, for example, has an excelent insonorization, but it is not a Toyota.

I dont know if the suspension of the 1.3 is harder than the 1.0.

It has some power the 1.3 but if you race with a Clio 1.4 in third gear it will be one car away.

It is a great motor(1.3L) but you have to smash it up to get power.

I have done some journeys it is good.It is not made for motorways but it is designed for small trips.

the only yaris with different suspension is the t sport. the springs are 30mm lower and a wee bit stiffer.

if you want them a bit stiffer get some TTE springs. there pretty good i have to say. i got them on my 1.3 and there ok. good set of tires and you can have some fun.

fitting bigger tyres will cause more road noise because of the bigger footprint causing more air compression between the road surface an the tyre

I thought the 1.3 SR and the tsport suspension were the same, having just aquired some Tsport suspension I will be able to tell u soon how it affects my 1.0... but i'm fairly sure it will lower my car by 15mm, not 30mm

The ***** of a 1.0 sits way too high, looks like its on stilts, if u look at a SR or a Tsport it doesn't have this problem

if ya look on the specs its only the t-sport that sits lower by roughly 15-20mm.

the ts suspension will make a difference i gave my mate my OE t sport springs when i dropped mine.

it didnt give his a major drop but it made a more pleasent arch gap.

I see, i'm sure someone told me (think it was miss tsport) that the SR suspension is the same spec as the tsports, but i'm not bothered about that really it's just what I heard, i've got my Tsport suspension now and will get it fitted as and when I have spare cash! <_<

15-20mm sounds good to me, if the 1.0 just had an equal gap between the front wheel arches&tyres compared to the back wheel arches and tyres it'd look fine, looking forward to seeing the results, I will take pictures of before and after to show the difference.. thats probably the best way to do it

TTE on a 1.0 in my opinion would be wasted, cos at the end of the day it's not a fast car lol. It's done a fine job for me though, been a great learner car and got a years pleasant driving out of it!

a trolly jack, axle stands, decent set of spanners and some spring compressors and could fit the springs yaself????

save ya a bit of wedge for a few hours work, its a piece of wee on a yaris especially on the back to swap the springs?

i don't have access to the right tools to do it mate, I hear the front 2 are a bit of a bugger to do as well, I was thinking about doing the back 2, then taking it to the local garage

he only wants £60 to fit all 4 there, top bloke, his work is very good too :)

Yeah Yarisboy i do live in bolton, which college u gonna go to, the one near Dean Road. Not too far from there.

The ***** of the yaris does sit too high, lookin for some bottom skirts at the min cos the front is low as it is.

does anyone know if the Tsport side skirtts fit on a normal yaris

Yeah dean road that's the one

I'm fairly sure the tsport skirts will be interchangable with with other yaris's m8

the front struts are a bit tricky to get off but £60?!?!? better than getting dirty and possibly stripping a nut! ;)

leave you more time for this

as for the ts skirts, think they would fit but i have noticed that theres somthing like them white panel clips holding them on to the bodywork and i dont think the none tsports have the mounting holes????

correct me if im wrong

If you fit lower springs the geometry changes I don't think you can correct that without specialised equipment.

geometry changes don't become a problem unless you're lowering about 80mm... at least that's my understanding of it

this will incur a 15-20mm drop maximum on my car

As YarisBoy says, you really wont come across geometry problems until you're lowering 50mm upwards.

The TTE -30mm springs I'm about to get fitted to my T3 are a straight swap over for the standard items.

The car definately needs them though, as with the 9 spoke TTE alloys with 195/50/15 Dunlop rubber I've just fitted, the car just doesnt sit right. Its not too bad with thick chunky tyres, but once you get low-profiles the car seems to sit higher (even though its not).
