Warning Buzzer

I am a taxi driver... I read with interest the solution to disabling the annoying seatbelt warning buzzers. I am also wanting to disable that infuriating buzzer that tells me my door is open! Anyone got any ideas... I'm reluctant to dismantle my instrument pod to get to the buzzer itself.

The key-in-ignition winds me up, especially as you have to have the key in to turn on power to the cigarette lighter. This means that whenever you are hoovering the car using a 12V vac you have the beeping going on.

On a similar topic, I find it annoying that you cannot even turn on the radio without the key being in the ignition. Lots of other cars have the radio turn off after one hour if the key is missing in order to avoid Battery drainage.

So if I leave my missus in the car when I go to Tescos I have to leave the keys in the ignition so that she can listen to the radio, and I always forget to take the clubcard thingy off the keyring. Owning an Avensis is costing me dearly ;-) .

Just re read your post, you have already done the seatbelt buzzer off mod ? If you have, ignore my last post, sorry.

This may be a little heavy handed, but it should be ok.

It involves cutting the wire from the door switch and putting another switch in series, so you can temporarily disable the buzzer whilst hoovering, setting the satnav, etc. Pressing the switch will disable anything controlled by the door switch - courtesy light etc.

Hi, with my T3s I turn the ignition to ON so that my dash lights up and the buzzer doesn't sound.

You will pull a hell of a current with the ingnition on and no engine running. I was advised on a previous post to take the cover off around the ignition switch (3 srews) and unplug the two pin plug from the ignition switch for the alarm. I have never tried it yet.

Hi there,

I did the white plug removal, it worked well. Remove the two screws from the steering wheel mount, then the one underneath. You might have to remove some of the other plugs to get at the small white one (WIth two wires). Unplug the white one, and plug all the others back in. Easy!

:ermm: I didn't like the idea of sipping wires. Got s small strip of thin steel. Bent it to the right shape & drilled a hole to fit the door switch screw through. (see pics) . Turning the clip and pressing the door micro switch makes the car think the door is shut. ie. no ignition alarm with door open and radio on etc. Hope this helps.post-113578-0-99163500-1331852180_thumb.post-113578-0-21127300-1331852195_thumb.

Turn off Seatbelt Alarm

1. turn the key to the ON position, foot off the brake

2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B)

3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position

4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.

5. turn the key to the ON position. when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)

6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.

7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.

8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off.

No more beeping.... Lee
