DONT NO IF KEY IS TRANSPONDER TYPE OR ORDINARY TYPE

EXPLAINED THIS TO MAIN DEALERS AND THEY SAID IF ITS

TRANSPONDER TYPE KEY I WOULD REQUIRE A NEW (ECU)-UNIT

ALONG WITH IGNITION +DOOR LOCKS IT WOULD COST TO MUCH

I APPEAR TO BE SNOOKERED

IS THERE ANY BOFFINS OUT THERE THAT CAN ADVISE ME

Did (does) your key look like this:

If so Then you have a transponder key and you are in the deepest deep stuff.

If not, Toyota dealers should be able to obtain a replacement key for you - it may take a week. They have apparently out-sourced the key codes for vehicles sold through their dealership. I was quoted £5 fee to obtain the code plus the cost to supply it. Around £25 all in.
