Hi, my st202 appears to have lowered suspension but the dealer who sold me it says it is standard toyota sports set up, did they ever do this? The car is a 1995 2.0 import (ss2 i believe?)

if thats your red celica , it looks like its so low it wont have suspension as such . the dealer is talking pork pies .

4 new springs is gonna set you back best part of £ 200 plus fitting . or try n locate some second hand ones maybe.

have a look at the springs and see what colour they are. yellow or red is common for lowering springs , but some can be black.

Thanks for that but the car has been checked over by a mechanic mate of mine and he says it appears to be a factory set up, it still rides real nice too no crashing and banging over bumps.

That Celica looks normal to me too from the pic, it does'nt look lowered. Toyota do a sports suspension on this model, called TEMS suspension which is a form of electronic shock absorber type. What was the reason for your post? is the suspension a problem or were you just curious? kingo :thumbsup:

sorry but thats not normal suspension on a 202 , normal is a mcphearson strut , not electronic , maybe they did do tems but it certainly wasnt on many chassis.

normal suspension is about 3 fingers from tyre to arch at the front and 4 fingers from tyre to arch at the rear, the red celica i see in the not so good picture is definately not a stock set up.

normal.

lowered or TEMS.

<<--- Red Celica -->

Is it the red one in the picture that Booster just posted?

That looks as if it has big rims and not particularly low profile tyres; any idea of combined diameter or r/r? Because if they're a bit oversize they could easily give the impression of a lowered suspension.
