Battery Charge Meter

anybody know of a meter, display or unit that displays the charge in a Battery?

not just a voltage meter but one showing how much juice is left before it gos flat?

u could fry and use an ammeter in stead of a voltmeter, u cud b different and hav a digital 1 which u can switch between adapta multimeter or sumit

Take a read at http://www.windandsun.demon.co.uk/batteries.htm they've got a section on Battery state of charge.

They breifly describe a hydrometer which is what I would recommend as cheapest and a reasonable guide to the charge state ... but cant use on a sealed Battery.

They also mention an Amp Hour Meter .... but now we're starting to talk £ :S

There are a few other ways of gauging the charge state but Im not sure how accurate you're needing it.

well im runnin two batterys in the car for the install so its pretty important especially for the cars Battery

any more ideas?
